Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

Wow, Hobbes actually got Calvin to think! I’m impressed.

That’s not fair, Hobbes. You’re playing with his six-year-old mind!

Hobbes has such an innocent face in the second panel.
Yukonner, this will only happen to Linus Van Pelt.

Linus would ponder any question.
tinhutjohn said, 5 months ago
Sounds like the question we used to ask the kids when travelling. Why is that light on top of the tower? To show the top of the tower. Why is the tower there? To hold up the light.
But but …..

I truly believe that Calvin’s dad would have said the same thing. n’ces t pas?
prasrinivara said, 5 months ago
Except Lewreader, Linus doesn’t worry as much as Calvin seems to (as he can always ponder with thumb-and-blanket, which Calvin seems to have lost)

Be interesting for Linus to meet Calvin. Think of all the trouble Calvin could teach him to get into.

This strip always remembers me of the mulitiverse theory…and make me think about it for another two days!!!
I just love to look at Calvin’s face in the last panel…such a poor boy!! =DDD

if calvin stands in the puddle, will that count as a bath for today?

If my mom caught me standing or walking through a puddle, she would have kicked me where the sun don’t shine.
musicnut1986 said, 5 months ago
The artwork is so M. C. Escher like - the contrast of light/dark and the reflection in the puddle. That just adds to the pathetic puzzlement of Calvin’s quandry.
I guess we don’t have many gearheads here. Oh to experience the adrenaline rush of clipping an apex in full four wheel drift to straighten a curve while simultaniously executing a perfect toe-and-heel rev-matched downshift! To see a car as more then just an appliance to get from points A to B. Even Calvin appreciates the performance envelope of a finely-tuned spacecraft or F4 Phantom fighter jet. (Although he almost always crashes). Like JonD17, I think teenaged Calvin would have been a gearhead.
JonD17 said, 5 months ago
@Musicnut, I take it you saw my late response to your ponderment yesterday, good. My rushes used to come from a perfectly executed full throttle power shift that would pin ya to the seat back and make the rear end of my Old Catalina try to pass the front!
@Tabbylynn- What a beautiful Star-Gazer Lily you have chosen for your avatar!

Hey JonD17 and Musicnut1986 it’s more fun on 2 wheels. Sliding part way through an s curve with the front wheel turned into the next curve and the rear wheel just barely gripping then leaning over and sliding the rear wheel ‘till it’s in line with the front wheel while you drop it a gear and give it some gas as you release the clutch. Awesome. My wife could never understand why I rode the 45 miles each way to work in western PA year round when we lived up there. Yeah being a gearhead on either 2 or 4 wheels is part of why we “live” our live’s.

Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons?
mjw22307 said, 5 months ago
ahh yes, the syke out. Technically, calvin just syked himself out, seeing as how hobbes is a figment of calvins imagination.

Well Macush: there was an article in 1992 in NYT’s magazine speculating about the result of an encounter between Charlie Brown and Calvin; perhaps that article could be dug-out, and Linus juxtaposed to replace Charlie Brown…

mjw22307 stated
“…seeing as how hobbes is a figment of calvins imagination.”
He is?!!! Wow!!! That throws a whole new wrinkle into Calvin’s existential dilemma.
