Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

I’m a little late in posting this, but at least I finally got around to it. Sometimes I think I’d like to be Adam@Home, avoiding the daily commute, but my number 1 pick would be Snoopy.

Thank you BC13. And it’s a pleasure to meet you.

Same results I had with my first and with my last model I ever tried to build……….
By the way the cartoon character i would want to be is Pogo (if anyon is old enough to remember him…..hmmmm!

..let’s just call this a practice strip and repeat it again in a year or three…
pearlandpeach said, 5 months ago
of course I remember Pogo….now there is a comic strip that I wish was repeated….but it was so specific to the times it was in, I really do not know if it would work.

For anyone interested in getting a taste of Pogo Possum (pun intended [possum stew]) you can follow this link.

The ship idea is fine if they keep it far from water.
………………
“Pogo” was a major inspiration to Watterson. Easy to see the grand simularities in both humor and art form. Check it out….

Yeah, I wish they’d rerun Pogo somewhere someday.

I hated putting together models. I was to much of a perfectionist and my skills didn’t match my ideals.
Yukoneric said, 5 months ago
My brother used to put ships together then take them out to the irrigation ditch and shoot them with his 22 rifle.
Melissa Tempke said, 5 months ago
Maybe Calvin ought to start with the easier models & then work up to the Planes & Ships! Deck us all with Boston, Charlie, Walla Walla Wash, & Kallamazoo! Nora’s freezing in the Trolley, ubby gubby gully wash, Alagazoo!! –yep, I remember Pogo!
Rufe Patootie! said, 5 months ago
Seems to be a little ADD and immature motor skills. Maybe he needs some Ritalin, or HGH. But then, being a cartoon character, gaining maturity is impossible.
He’ll be stuck at 5-6 y.o. forever!
Wildmustang1262 said, 5 months ago
Once Calvin screwed up with the model airplane, he plans to get another one. Uh-oh! He will screw another one up again. I think he should assemble with “snap” basic #1 for model car, airplane or others without glue and paintings.
:-)

Ha ha ha! charlie 37133 you’re funny. I like you already.

I remember I got hold of some of my brother’s airplane decals and pasted them on the wall in our upstairs bathroom. We couldn’t get them off and they were there until the day we moved (the bathroom had pink plastic fake tile). fortunately for me only the family used that bathroom, but I sure got it for that one.
Perhpas they should try doing a ship in a bottle.
Wenthral said, 5 months ago
When I use to get to many models gathering dust I took them out back tied them in the tree with string so it looked like they were flying and then shot them to pieces with my BB gun.. good times…goood times.
RinaFarina said, 5 months ago
Gene Strattmann, of course I remember Pogo! My all-time favourite comic strip! We are not all young sprats on this web site - that’s one of the things I like about it. Actually, I can’t tell anybody’s age until they tell me.
RinaFarina said, 5 months ago
Melissa Tempke, I remember the rest of “Deck us all”:
Norah’s freezing on the trolley, Swaller dollar cauliflower alley garoo! Don’t we know archaic barrel, lullabye lillaboo Louisville Lou, Trolley Molly don’t love Harold, Boola boola Pensacoola, hullabaloo!
actually I think I must be mistaken, I don’t think he would use the word “trolley” twice…
Yes, my father and I both loved Pogo, for different reasons (I didn’t know till I grew up, and then I could appreciate it on a political level as well - but I still prefer the child’s approach).
Yukoner said, 5 months ago
I still have occasion to use quotes from Pogo in some of the stuff I write.
ChesterBeanienoodle said, 5 months ago
Calvin, this is how I feel when my stuff doesn’t work like I want it to.

Pogo was THE classic. It was why I started reading comics in the first place.
I too worked on a lot of models as a kid. The more I worked on, though, the fewer I ever finished. Of course, that was years before anybody thought those glue fumes could stone you out. Maybe that’s why…?
donhef said, 5 months ago
$6.00?!?!?!?!?!?!? When was this strip done? Last time I spent $6.00 on any model kit was in the 70’s.. (or am I dating myself?)
