Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

A wheelless plane, rough landings, indeed…

This bird wont even get off the ground when these guys are through with it.

Finally, there will no problem for Spaceman Spiff.

Oh Calvin why didn’t you ask your dad to help you with the model. With that said I want to apologize to everyone for bringing the mood down yesterday. I have a comic exercise I would like to try with you all. Even you wolf bashers can participate if you wish. So here goes… O.k. let’s say that we live in a comic strip universe. Now what I want to know is given any comic strip that you like what comic strip character would you be.

i wana be one of those slimy, skedgy, full-of-spikes-all-over-the-body caterpillar from Clavin and Hobbes!
But hey.. dont squat me!!!

Yikes, only one wheel out of three left. One-point landings are very difficult to make….even for an ace like Spaceman Spiff.

I’d be Agnes… in fact, I think I might already be her. Or Charlie Brown

Calvin is right.
If it doesn’t fit then force it.
If it breaks … well it wasn’t working anyway.

My brothers and I built hundreds of these things when we were kids (before plastic got expensive). I’ll bet our first half-dozen (all without adult supervision) were just like Calvin’s. Ah, the memories!
Akenta said, 5 months ago
Normally, I would find today’s comic funny, but not after recent events. My heart goes out to those who lost family and friends on the Air France flight.

Ladywolf: I would like to either be Alice from Cul de Sac or if that is taken–I would like to be Sophie from Dog eat Doug. They both lead interesting lives in their own innocent ways.

Wheel won’t fit? My dad always used to say, “Don’t force it, just get a bigger hammer!”
Leonardeuler said, 5 months ago
Grazer, indeed: we all know Calvin don’t have any problems to turn his spaceship into wreckage.

@LadyWolf I would be Max by Giovannetti

Looks like you better give it up guys, it’s not going to work.
I don’t know who I’d be. I find myself feeling sorry for most comic strip characters. Maybe that’s why I enjoy reading them, I can sympathize with them.
grebulon said, 5 months ago
@ladywolf17: I’d enjoy being Captain Haddock from Tintin–Just for his impressive diction and creative use of strange words.
@Akenta: After Flight 447, this does seem like a grim reminder of the tragedy.

Ladywolf17: I like the question, even us adults have fantasies of being someone else … Hobbes get the vote for me!
I guess if you have the right back wheel off and the left front wheel off, the plane night still be balanced ….. hhmm…. lol.

Sincere condolences to the loved ones of those who perished on the Air France jet.
Hm, maybe Gracie from Baldo would be a good comics character choice for me. She is still young and very smart.

I’m with Carmy and Akenta: If these were current strips I don’t think Bill W. would have done this type strip so soon.
Prayers to all involved in the air disaster.
Wildmustang1262 said, 5 months ago
Hey Calvin! I surely hope you will not ruin everything what you try your best to assemble the model airplane. If you broke the smallest parts, you will destroy everything for your favorite model airplane.
Ladywolf17: I think I love the comic strip of For Better or For Worse because it looks like a real life and I love to laugh after I read the comic strips of FBFW many years. And Pickles, too! :-)
Akenta: Yeah, I saw the news on the TV about Air France plane plunged into the Altantic Ocean. Pray and condole for the loss of loved ones. It is horrible tragedy!

Think of all the engineering and problem solving skills that children used to learn from building models. Now think about how little they learn from pressing YELLOW-RED-BLUE-RED-RED-YELLOW-GREEN on Guitar Hero or some other mind-numbing video game.
No need to wonder why GM is bankrupt and Chrysler has been sold to the Italians. We’ve trained our children how to avoid learning in favor of just mezmerizing them with flashing lights and sounds.
What we need now is a video game that teaches them Hindi or Chinese so that they can understand basic instructions from their future bosses.

Except that I don’t know why he continues to hang around with that obnoxious Calvin kid, I’d be Hobbes.
