And to everybody else who welcomed me - now I REALLY feel self-conscious. Thank goodness RinaFarina isn’t my real name.

when I was 4 yrs. old, the roosters on our farm could be every bit as intimidating as a pterodactyl. Especially when I was barefoot. They would chase me and peck at my heels. The upside of it was that I learned early and without quals how to behead a chicken for a fresh dinner.

@RinaFarina, others of us are mathematicians too, if not professionals. The real difference between a toridical doughnut and a Klein bottle version is that when you turn them inside out, the torus is changed, but not the Klein bottle one. :-) And that reminds me of the jape that a topologist is a fellow who can’t tell the difference between his coffee cup and his doughnut.

Owlsey, you are right M C Escher rocks!! I’ve been fascinated by his work since I came across him as a high school student. I turned several people onto him with my posters of his work in my college apartment. Decades later, I still see new things I missed before when viewing his work. One of my favorite is his self-portrait showing his hand holding a crystal ball while the reflection obviously shows him sitting in his library. I’ll have to research Klein bottles because I have to admit I am not familar with them.
