Fast forward 25 years… Calvin (under an assumed name) will be a big shot CEO - taking credit (as most of them do) for the hard work of others and walking away with millions. Apparently this is how they all start out.
We’ll see how good Calvin’s management skills are. Will he take Susie’s lunch money? Will he force a pay cut? Will he take a golden parachute retirement and shift his capital earnings to an off-shore account in the Bahamas? Will he take all the credit for the report?
But, one thing is for sure: he does have the whole bit about devaluing the employee down pat.
Susie, calm down, will ya?! You and Calvin need to go and take the books from the shelves and do the research on Mercury, the reddish planet.
I do remember when I was in third grades at the deaf school. I worked on my research about the reddish planet, Mercury. My classmates did work on their researches about each planet. We enjoyed working on our researches about the solar system. I still had the book about the solar system and our researches on those planets.
I think jweb1510 has a point, why are third graders doing a report on Mercury? As far as being in the library goes, get those kiddies to the books as soon as possible! I can’t beleive how many college level students don’t know how to use a library! (sorry, both my parent’s are directors of libraries!)
i can relate to susie. i am always the one doing all the work. it sucks. i have put my foot down lately and done the projects on my own and gotten better grades then when i did them with partners, who did no work.
prasrinivara says:Wildmustang1262, I thought the “Red Planet” was Mars.
Maybe you are right. Mars is the Red Planet. Mercury is the fastest orbit around the Sun and near the Sun, too. that is how Mercury becomes very hottest. Pluto is very, very far away, very slowest orbit around the Sun and become very coldest. Also, no existances in Pluto. You can check the goggle and find the information abt the planets.
Haha, I was the labor in high school, but was promoted to management in college… :-P College was challenging! Dude, Calvin obviously needs some help, but is too prideful to ask so he is being sarcastic instead. Susie should help him out instead of getting all mad about it.
Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

in panel three, Susie’s eyes remind me of Hobbes when Hobbes has been aggravated by Calvin.

Calvin, it’s time for a change. Susie is too angry to be a good partner.

Susie should take the transmogrifier, put Calvin under it and turn the knob to a good choise for her.
Jackknife15 said, 8 months ago
She definitely needs an ATTITUDE adjustment.

Why on earth are 1st graders researching the planet Mercury in the library?
prasrinivara said, 8 months ago
So Susie: suggest to Ms. Wormwood that you and Calvin do separate reports entirely–problem solved nicely!

I’m surprised that with the theme of their assignment Calvin is not more enthused!
Yes, where is Spaceman Spiff! (um, just leave out the alien life forms in the report) :)

Puhlease…don’t dig political connotations out of this strip. It’s profound, no doubt, but politics? Nah…use the SOTU forum.
I think a good title for the report (based on panel 4) could be “mercury rising”.

I love Calvin and Hobbes, my fav is the one where he talks about seeing his life flash before his eyse and hitting susie with a slush ball. Classic!

This partnership does not bode well. I see two big fat “F”s in the making.
