Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

no use of crying over spilt milk…they actually missed a g8 opportunity

That was your one chance and missed the perfect time to regain their sanity before Calvin.

I remember always wanting to stay with relatives when I was younger. It was always different and exciting.

I had the same feeling when I was a kid. Alwayz wanted to stay with relatives, outta home made me feel gr8. so free!

Max, be careful what you wish for. You might get it.
RHoney said, 8 months ago
hey! isn’t this the only strip in which calvin’s wearing a hooded jacket? Never seen it before or after this again!

Panel 2 > Uncle Max shaking hands with Calvin…. love the gesture between the two!

To visit uncle Max is a fine aspect and everything before is forgotten!

I think it was merely a nervous breakdown. He never recovered from it, so he never appeared again in these comics.

Doesn’t every parent sometimes feel like this?
Ellsass said, 8 months ago
But what about Hobbes? He’d have to mail himself to Uncle Max’s house.
prasrinivara said, 8 months ago
Are you sure they were sane prior to having Calvin pouncingtiger?
johnnydoc5 and Ivy0730Lcsq: I actually can remember an expansion on that–wishing to spend more time (or stay) with certain relatives while wishing to avoid (unsuccessfully, I actually was forced to visit these at their homes) others.

So long Max, we hardly knew ya.
rawriamadinosaur said, 8 months ago
Haha I think this is precisely why we don’t see Uncle Max again, too scared that Calvin might try to take advantage of that opportunity again.

Goodbye Uncle Max have a great life, and tho’ we don’t get to see you again we know you kept in touch with you favorite nephew.

i’m surprised that calvin didn’t bring hobbs to the airport to see uncle max off too

hasta pronto tío max
Calvinator said, 8 months ago
I’d like to see Calvins imagination take hold of a security pat-down at todays airport. Alien creatures would surround him with all sorts of devices designed to read his mind and extract state secrets.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha I love the last panel. I can’t stop laughing about that. Well, so long Uncle Max! Have a safe and sound trip! Come back and visit us some time. I am sure Calvin’s parents think Calvin is such a pester.
Honey R says: hey! isn’t this the only strip in which calvin’s wearing a hooded jacket?
Calvin wears a winter jacket with hood.

Honey R: no, he was wearing one when they went to pick him up too. Other than that, though, I think this is the only series besides snow serieses.

In that case, don’t even dare to look at Pibgorn, Dick Tracey, State of the Union, or other popular strips! :-)

Anybody notice that these characters have weird looking hands? Look at panel 3! :-)

”I never get to do anything fun.”
LOL—That pitiful, self-absorbed attitude is exactly what makes Calvin’s world so constantly chaotic….and so much fun for the rest of us!

Uncle Max is NEVER coming back

It’s interesting to note that Hobbes never made an appearance while Uncle Max was visiting. Wonder what he thinks of Max?

Actually - he did when Max first arrived. Max said he had “a killers eye” and I believe Hobbes was quite impressed.

I, too, was shocked that Calvin could just waltz off like that without thinking of Hobbes! The probably would have had to turn the plane around on the taxiway.
PaulAtreides said, 8 months ago
comment overload? that only happens during religious debates. anyway, its a really funny strip. calvin’s parents almost thought they could be alone for a second lol

I am SO surprised Mom and Dad would EVER want some time without Calvin…
I will miss Max. He added something new. Turns out Calvin and Max developed quite the friendship.

Ivy0730 said, 8 months ago
Mom and Dad often disscussed about the ‘huge’ cost to raise Calvin lol and at one time they needed a babysitter while they went out, they laughed at quite out loud, cuz they will away from Calvin for a while, even just couple hours, that’s tough!
