Drystyha says:
Lived in North Carolina for a few years. Once had an inch of snow, enough to cover
the roads. At that time the city had no plowing equipment and weren’t prepared for it.
EVERYTHING stopped, including school! But I was running around in my liitle MG
because I was used to it!
Which one did you have? I had a ‘56 MGA. Very fun little car.

They gave their all for that wall.
EDIT: Just like workers who died while working on the “Great Wall”.

Will the wall stop the hordes of snow-goons that are soon to appear?
flammable_feline said, 9 months ago
Dad… relax….. Having a wall around your house is a perfectly good reason not to go to work… you should be thanking “that kid”.
I’m crossing my fingers for snowmen!
hogar.strashni said, 9 months ago
hahahahhahahhhhahaaaaaaa!!! I did THE VERY same thing, when I was a kid! I needed a wall for a grudvanje(snowball fight) with my younger sister. Dad had to use hammer to destroy the wall, and I’m REALLY glad I wasn’t there in the morning, when he found out that he doesn’t have enough time to clean the path, and that he is forced to go to job on foot at WAY below zero Celsius :D

“We’ll pour water on it so it freezes overnight” - That kid should come work with me!

Edit:Ooops! Mistake! But for some reson I can’t delete my comment :(
prasrinivara said, 9 months ago
Yes, wndrwrthg: snow-goons can’t climb over ice walls, or metabolise solid ice (though they CAN metabolise powdery snow easily).

They say you show signs in youth of your future profession… so Calvin will be an engineer… or a mason! …if he ever makes it past 6.

Whoa! Hobbs has a scarf on in the 3rd frame. Whats the point of tiger fur?
unemandarine said, 9 months ago
Hobbes is a fashionable tiger, hence the scarf…

they’re coming, Marg. I can sense them out there.

Calvin mentions: “All that fur must be purely ornamental”

Something tells me the wall won’t be there for long…. Sorry Calvin!!

I have the same problem and I have no kids. Whenever the county comes to plow our streets they completely block my driveway. Our snow is very wet here so when I go to shovel my way out it’s like shoveling set concrete.

I think some of our snow drifts (and plowed banks) will still be around on the 4th of July. Say, I wonder if a snowball fight works to celebrate national independence? (Does anyone in Canada do that?)

That’s right and it’s so frustrating! Sometimes we can’t even get in the driveway because of that, we have to park across the street and then shovel it out before we can enter our driveway.

Now, see, Dad, if you’d just bought the the 4WD SUV, you could get over that!
Gweedo Murray said, 9 months ago
“WHERE’S THAT KID!!!” Somewhere safe, I hope.
Jaycy said, 9 months ago
I recall taking sort of a “running jump” in my car and making it most of the time. Once I did end up having to shovel the car out of the pile of snow I landed in instead.
Gweedo Murray said, 9 months ago
I useta have a ‘75 Vega wagon and would need a running start to get through the plowed up ridge.
teaguemj said, 9 months ago
Yea! the snow goons may be here soon!
teaguemj said, 9 months ago
Silverpearl Maybe the snow goons have a shovel!
Silverpearl said, 9 months ago
Ahhh! That sinking feeling when your car hits an invisible snowdrift and stops dead. No shovel in the trunk either!!
grazer said, 9 months ago
I’m sure Calvin would gladly remedy the problem if dad would spring for a flamethrower.

‘Round here, the only difference with 4WD is that you get stuck in a bigger snowdrift!

Love this one! Dad has to go to work and Calvin blocked the driveway! Priceless! Of course, if that were me, I would call into work and say I was snowed in and couldn’t get to work today!

I hear that when they haul away snow from parking lots they take it to a Polish landfill.

Calvin is rather mischievous, I wonder if he knows that it will interfere with his dad? Anyway I have always enjoyed Calvins epic snow building adventures. From the most outrageous and wonderful snowmen to impregnable forts of snow and ice you can count on Calvin to make you smile.
hogar.strashni said, 9 months ago
@Calvinator it’s probably because tigers grow in India, so Hobs still didn’t get used to side effect of wintertime glittering joy :)
@1RF you’re right, I’m from Beograd(Belgrade),SRB. By the way, “hogar.strashni” means “Hagar the Horrible” which is my favourite comic strip :)
Спасибо @JohnD17! Мне показалось что славянское сообщество здесь уже многочисленныe? :)
prasrinivara said, 9 months ago
hagar.strashni, not all tigers are Indian (though the majority of extant wild tigers are) or even tropical; you’ve forgotten about Siberian (aka Manchurian) tigers.

No snowball fights where I am but to celebrate July 1 we sometimes hold a midnight golf tournament. That’s right, we are far enough north that it is light enough.

When you get out you have to step .up to get to ground level. The Volvo station wagon of that era would have been such a better car, but out of my price range. (1983)
.
grammahotsho just think what the Polish landfill people could do with their Superfund check when it comes……….in July !
