Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

Hobbes feels that the women should be included…

True happiness has got to include women. Money is nice. Cars…I don’t think so. True happiness is having a partner to share each day with who you look forward to waking up to each morning…in the absolute splendor of wealth. if not monetarily than in happiness.

Sadly, there are alot of shallow people who think that’s all there is to life.
LX013 said, 9 months ago
It depends on no material things it’s peace in your heart and with god, a good get along with people, to love someone truely, feel to be loved, a wonderful sunset, to enjoy nature, to walk in the sand along the shore in the evening, or to sit in the gras under a tree in summer, what wonderful happiness!
Elwoodman said, 9 months ago
A good woman will get you through times of no money and no cars better than money and cars will get you through times of no women.

That saying sounds vaguely familiar…

True happiness for me is somewhere totally deserted, tho’ some of the time I can see both Calvin’s and Hobbes’ point of view ;)

Hi Yukoner Like your new face. Pardon my ignorance but is that the Yukon provincial flag, or should I say territory ?

If Ted K. switched parties would his tumor go away? ¦-▪(

He has two flags then! No place for hate talk around the youngsters that read these comics.

Calvin could do with visiting this site and finding out what really makes people happy:
http://www.makeeverybodyhappy.org/
:o)
(BTW, it’s women!)
cneel said, 9 months ago
Actually, TC now has at least four flags. There’s no excuse for such vile postings on such a sweet site.

Hell yea, women/men/partners are the meaning!
@hogarstrashni. From where do you come from? I’m from Struga, MKD. If you like you can write me on sutinoski at gmail.com
Pozdrav.

I think Hobbes might be upset that his list doesn’t include tigers. How can one be happy without that unconditional furry love.
Hugh B. Hayve said, 9 months ago
I pick the second two, women somehow don’t work into the happiness equation, although they’re fun to have around sometimes.
Elwoodman said, 9 months ago
“Gweedo Murray says:

Hi Gweedo, my brother used to buy a comic called “the fabulous furry freak brothers” about a group of 3 stoners that were stuck living in the 70’s. Their catchphrase was “dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope”…

True, very true, Akenta!

Some women are attracted to men with money and a nice car. Not my kind of women. Not that I’m poor, but true love has nothing to do with money.
(and another flag is thrown on TCs’ foul play)

Elwoodman, we gotta talk bro,
Gweedo, your observation about Ted Kennedy switching parties is very interesting, I think some feel the answer is yes
prasrinivara said, 9 months ago
Hobbes actually wishes Calvin would understand Omer Khayam:
“A loaf of bread beneath the bough,
A flask of wine, a book of verse – and thou”
(the “thou” refers to a good woman)
Jackone said, 9 months ago
Another flag for TC. Ever read his avatar? What a joke TC is.
prasrinivara said, 9 months ago
TC is probably a “Phelpsian” (congregant of Westboro Baptist Church)–you know, the ones who obnoxiously protest at soldiers’ funerals, and have about as much love for the US as does Jeremy Wright.

Yikes, this is a comic strip folks What is it about Calvin & Hobbes that gets weird commentary. Chill.
JTRaine said, 9 months ago
STOP FEEDING THE TROLL people! just silently flag him and move on, it’s not as much attention today as he got yesterday but it is still far too much. Starve the troll and he will move on to happier hunting grounds.
Besides I doubt the flags do anything. He/she got flagged who knows how many times yesterday and they are STILL here.
COMPLETELY….100%!!! ignoring the problem WILL make it go away.
DesultoryPhillipic said, 9 months ago
Please! This person probably bats for the other team no matter what issue is at hand. No sane person really believes what is being espoused by TC.
Editing your post to make everyone who flagged you look hateful won’t work if you don’t change all your past posts also. It also proves the point of my first statement.
bleepingdeadalien said, 9 months ago
I also flagged TC
Samka said, 9 months ago
lol I think Hobbes would have preferred a more altruistic and meaningful alternative to option a)

I also flagged TC. This kind of judgmental person gives all true christians a bad reputation.

As one of the Calvin & Hobbes strips read, as Calvin & Hobbes were outside,”It’s hot, it’s humid,it’s buggy, there’s no breeze, and the air is full of pollen, but it’s summer!” That my friends, is true happiness, SUMMER!!!!

Northwoodser said, 9 months ago
Calvin, wait until you’re a teener-women will make you forget about the other things.
EMandEM said, 9 months ago
Calvin, with money and cars, there is no way you will be able to keep women away. Happiness, on the other hand, is a completely different animal…Even a combination of all three cannot guarantee happiness. That is something that comes from within YOU and not from the outside.
EMandEM said, 9 months ago
Watch the movie ‘Aman’. It is about a poor righteous rickshaw driver from India who is the happiest man in the world.
blackman2732 said, 9 months ago
Women are definitely NOT the meaning of happiness. The older you get, Calvin, the more you will understand.
si_rat said, 9 months ago
“meaning” of true happiness is the question folks !
I think most pot smokers would way smoking pot, if its what you be happy with.
btw, on TC
why not other TC’s just pray instead of flagging !

Yukoner says:
I have flagged TC and will do so every time he appears on this forum. I will make no further mention of him every. I urge everyone to do the same.
BTW I am a born-again Christian and condemn utterly what this person spews.
Same here Yukoner and the rest of you. He makes the rest of us look bad. Today’s comment was not as bad as yesterday’s but it was inappropriate to the C&H comic posted. What more can we do besides flagging him? is there anyone we can write to? You PRO people have priveleges the rest of us don’t, see what you can do eh?

TC: The reason you are flagged today is that while Luke 6: 27-28 is a nice passage, it has nothing to do with today’s comic or the way you have been treated on this forum. Born-again Christians like me don’t like being misrepresented and non-christians don’t like having hate spewed at them. Your posts of the past few days have been inappropriate at best and just plain mean, not to mention completely off-topic. While I did not flag today’s posting because all you did was quote Luke, I have done so in the past and will continue to do so when you rant and rave at us for no discernible reason.

Hobbes has the right idea…when posed with irrational philosophical questions (or in the case of this forum, irrational comments), sometimes the right answer is to just walk away…
Silverpearl said, 9 months ago
I would not touch that comment with a 100 foot pole. Happiness is different for different people, and different at different times in our lives. We mostly reach contentment.
Char32 said, 9 months ago
Giving certain folks a ‘bad name’ and creating negative responses, might be the sole intent of the ‘nameless’ one with the Yellow caution sign avatar! :-D
Negative strokes are better than no strokes, if you’re lonely and needy, and possibly have a touch of masochism. Maybe Broom Hilda (See Sunday’s strip) could recommend some help!
unemandarine said, 9 months ago
Akenta you’re so very right in your observation… Tigers should’ve been included…
bleepingdeadalien said, 9 months ago
Ok…it’s money…no…it’s cars…wait…it’s women…wait a minute…it’s money and cars…no…it’s all three…no…aughhhh!

Elwoodman if you could only see my tongue sticking through my cheek,(I’m gonna need surgery) you would see a big smiley like cleokaya has. I still have those books and someday if I go from apt. living to a permanent home those puppies along with Bob Crumb, Peter Bagge and a bunch of others are going from the box to a shelf for easy access. Remember “Dorman’s Doggie” or “Unsupervised Existence”?
Well JonD as you might suspect I don’t wish bad on T. K., with his tumor and all, but that other party would have you believe that all the rest of us; Dems, 3rd party and just plain old unaffiliated (like me) are go-inna-.hell and naturally, a nice fat tumor will help grease the rails of our Boxcar-O-Sin to get us there a little quicker or maybe just to make the journey a little more “exquisite”. I don’t get into politics. Just another hate place. When you squeeze one-a-them gag .fart bags do you experience a great RUSH of hot air ?
Mornin’ T. Man, the cowflops are all over your place, like manna from Heaven! (sorry, couldn’t resist) :-) I got a stable broom you can borrow. I can’t help wondering if you should just “let the freak flags fly”! Look what it did for Dave Crosby. ¦-]
