Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

My other half did that to me when I was having a snooze in front of the TV. He wafted a strawberry under my nose until I woke up!

Hobbes looks so good and innocent when he is sleeping.

Tiger, tiger, sleeping light
In the forests of the night,
What mortal hand with warm cookie
Dare disturb thy symmetry?

grazer says:

Yeh, like when (in the first couple of strips) Calvin caught Hobbes with a plethora of tuna fish sandwiches, and when he offered more, Hobbes replied, “No thanks; I’m stuffed”?

Good thing Calvin had a cookie and not an onion, he would be in big trouble!!!

Hey, in this case at least, I can’t think of any reason for Hobbes to complain…

Tiger, like all cats, are oblilgate carnivores. They have to eat all meat - or at least something with similar protein and amino acid balance.
House cats (and likely tigers) cannot taste sugar - they are lacking the receptors on their tongue. They will eat a bit of grains, but like crackers just as well as cookies - and their system does not handle sugar well (and you don’t want to pay for feline dental work either).
Chocolate is toxic to house cats, and probably to tigers as well.
Hellbo said, 11 months ago
@Stuart: thanks for the info…. i’ll stop feeding my cat with chocolate chip cookies…

Oh, by the way… Hobbes is not a regular tiger

txmystic - no apology necessary, I like yours as well. The original poem finished with a slightly altered version of the first two couplets as well.
For those interested, the original poem can be found here: http://www.bartleby.com/101/489.html

This comic portrays another side to Calvin. When you first glance at this strip it is nothing more than another Calvin and Hobbes strip, but it actually is completly different.
Any other day Calvin would walk up to Hobbes and make him sniff something disgusting, change his dreams into nightmares. This would make Calvins satifised last line sum up the strip in a more logical way.
However today Calvin has changed Hobbes’s dreams maybe for the better. This makes the last line “I like to mess with his dreams.” become more confusing.
Is this a new nicer side to Calvin we are seeing, or maybe just a one time thing, whatever it is I hope he starts to mess Hobbes up for the worst soon; it’s more interesting to read.
Sweet Dreams Hobbes
p.s Hobbes last speech bubble is almost 3D does anyone know why?
Mkim1526 said, 11 months ago
space cadet the point of random comics isnt to surprise us, its for us to see more calvin and hobbes humor. forget logic, just get with the humor!
stpatme said, 11 months ago
The difference in the shape of Hobbes’s speech bubble is because he is dreaming.

Classic Bill Watterson work.
mrprongs said, 11 months ago
Hobbes must have spun around to be in that position. The other panels he’s in the opposite direction.
topaz17 said, 11 months ago
Actually, maybe it’s not such a nice dream… he’ll wake up and theres no cookies after all! (I’m sure Calvin will hide them…)

Tiger, tiger, cutting Zs
In fancy’s forest, where the breeze
Wafts scent of cookies chocolate–
Thus in your sleep you talk a lot.
BinaryWiener said, 11 months ago
I notice that in the 3rd panel Calvin is on Hobbes’ right. In the 4th he’s on his left…
