Awwwww the last panel is SO precious…
I just adore Calvin’s facial expressions the whole way through this strip, they’re superb!

“Moe the lumber”
Calvin’s insults in the first panel reminds me of Captain Haddock’s swear words. Nice going Hobbes.

Love the tough look, Hobbes! Go scratch Moe’s eyes out! Wait a minute… Moe ain’t got any eyes, er… Go scratch Moe’s hair out, Hobbes!

In bad situations they stand together truely! Calvin is sure, his friend will help him!

It is remarkable given that the drawing is so sketchy, he still conveys so much in just a few lines. But if you look at the Spaceman Spiff and other drawings, you see that he does detail very well, too. Remarkable talent.

I’m surprised Hobbes hasn’t learned better insults than “Bub” after all the time he’s spent with the master. Ahh..the joy of besting a bully.

Oh Hobbs saved the day!!!! Wow hold him back before he does away with that stupid Bub (whatever that is).

Yaaaay!!–The good guys win!
Good thing for Calvin that Moe has more stuffing between his ears than his stuffed tiger does.

Calvin and Hobbes took down Moe! Hurray!

@grazer:
Stuffed tiger? Dare you call Hobbes that. He’ll maul you and the helicopter ambulance would arrive after all.

So it turns out that the bully is really the coward.
MrBillT said, 11 months ago
We can see now that Moe with just the thought of an authority figure, is spineless, you rock Calvin…….
Tiger1183 said, 11 months ago
Moe’s not a tough guy! He wants to play with a “teddy”. But Hobbes isn’t a “teddy” hes a tiger!
mrprongs said, 11 months ago
Maybe Moe called you a Rough Rider? Or a NY Gov? Or a Pres?

Calvin called Moe a brainless invertebrated. By thinking Calvin was playing a trick on him and then running off because of it, he proved that he was brainless and had no backbone. Calvin called it!

In my experience, at least 90-95% of bullies are cowards.

Hobbes looks scary in the last panel… Moe got off light! O_o

I love this story. It’s the only one where Hobbes and Moe actually meet!

This is typical Watterson genius. Bill is impeccable in seeing and capturing the human psychy that we carry from early on into adulthood. The ‘face’ that Calvin fronts is what often carries use through our adult challenges. If you believe in yourself, this inspires others to work together in the same efforts. Your comment?
