I must write this in German, my English ist not so good!

What does “imadoofus” mean?
Silverpearl said, 12 months ago
“I am a doofus” means “I am dumb”. Dumb for expecting Susy to give him a correct answer after the way he treats her.

it means “I am a doofus”, or a numbskull, sucker, whatever–Susie’s got Calvin’s number for trying to cheat on a test!

POW! Right in the kissa! Hasn’t Calvin learned yet that Susie can take him in a fight?
Kapteinpus said, 12 months ago
Thanks guys!
I “googled” it but..I didn’t really get a good definition =P
But, I gathered it meant something of the sort =)

I love the satisfied look on Susie’s face in panel 4, and the look of realization on calvin’s in 3

Calvin’s whole life revolves around learning easy lessons the hard way.
No wonder he’s my hero.
Yukoner said, 12 months ago
In panel 1 I love how Susie’s tongue is sticking out as she concentrates.
No wonder Calvin dislikes her, the way she treats him.
space-cadet said, 12 months ago
Hmmm I think Calvin might loose this one. Calvins face in the first panel is so funny. I think this might be the only time you see his teeth. I never knew Susie worked with her tongue out classic.
Good to know Calvin could do at least 3 questions.
Better than usual. But it seems to me Calvin is clever at home than at school. Better try harder at school Calvin we know you can.
I’m on Susie side of this fight. It
will be funny to see this fight. I think Hobbes will be on Susie’s side!!!

Here is the German to English translation courtesy of freetranslation.com.
“In my class, we had latin school work and one of my classmates that was a bad student, our class first asked:” favor would say the sentence with “ipse” what is named translated “itself” to me. The asked wrote back even is the man” and meant, had to make the other its work itself, believed this however, it would be the translation the Latin sentence and wrote this out of saying into its test. Our professor brought back the corrected works and laughed and laughed, he meant, he would find it very strangely, that in the work totally absurd would prove even is the man” inside stood!”
It still doesn’t make much sense. Perhaps LOX13 will straighten it out for us.

Of course, when Moe intercedes on Susie’s behalf Calvin will sing a different tune.

You are clever to use the freetranslation.com to translate from German to English.
Wink! ;-) I use it a lot for Spanish and other foreign languages. :-)
LX013 Next time please use the English grammars in the US. Don’t feel bad if your grammars look bad. You are not only one that your grammars are bad. I have to learn how to use the English grammars because it is my second language. My primary language is American Sign Language. I am a native American and hearing impaired. I have to be patient learning how to use the English that will help me improving better.
You guys, Agree with me or not?? Suit yourself if you don’t understand what I talk about. That will be fine with me. :-) Have a Happy Thanksgiving Day!
(English)
¡Día feliz de Acción de gracias!
(Spanish)
Glückliches Erntedankfest Tag!
(German)
Le Jour d’action de grâces heureux !
(French)
Il Giorno di Ringraziamento felice!
(Italian)

Go back to that strip for C&H I am sure that Susie gave Calvin offensive word, “Imadoofus!”
Kapteinpus says: What does “imadoofus” mean? Next time use your thinking to look closer how to split between those letters for example, Imadoofus -
I’m/a/doofus. :-) I know that word “doofus” mean. dumb, stupid, duh! whatever!!

“Selbst ist der Mann” is an idiom in German and means “you must do it yourself” or “stand on you own feet”. The pupil wrote in her test “do it yourself” and this was not the translation, this ditn’t fit into the Latin text we had to translate. Is it now better to understand?

One might say, you’re a doofus if you don’t know what “imadoofus” means.
Calvin loves using the “Reaction Formation” defense mechanisim of controlling his anxieties. No one does it better than Calvin :)

LX013 - Your grammar is better than lots of native speakers; to our own chagrin, of course. :)

Actually, I doubt that Susie lost any teeth. Calvin likes to talk, but Hobbes is the one who’s good at taking people out.

Wildmustang: I have a question for you. When you say,”I’m a native American.”, do you mean that you were born in America, or that you belong to an American Indian tribe, or both?
Thanks! Your friend,
Marg.

Smile! I am not “native American Indian” I am a white American (I have 1/4 of English, Scottish, Irish and Germany) I was born in Reno, NV in the US. :-) I wish I could be a Native American Indian but I am not! Oh well! lols! I love their dances, arts, potteries, and anything what they were made. I have dreamcathers, potteries, and pictures of Native American Indians. They came here in the US first before us. Remember that. :-)

I used www.freetranslation.com to translate from English to Spanish for “Happy Thanksgiving Day!” It came on it so I copied and pasted that sentences in Spanish. Thanks for correction. I’d appreciated it. :-)
