Sheer terror upon the loss of your best friend.

    It’s laughable because it’s a cartoon.

I think I remember how this one turns out. Hobbes will be okay, but it will be humiliating for Calvin (and I’ll say no more).

I think he is terrified, margueritem, but his mom seems to think it’s just another bedtime avoidance ploy.

I remember having adults call what was sheer terror on my part, a ‘temper tantrum’.

I’m really sorry that they are not coming to Yukon as I live here and already have the guest room ready for them. Maybe Hobbes is going to complete the trip on his own. Just a minute, there’s somebody at the door. I better check if ….

When I was little, I used to “pull this stunt” all the time…I would say my stuffies were missing. However, my method was just a ploy to stay up late. Calvin has a strong attachment to Hobbes, and to Calvin, Hobbes is real. As Bill Waterson says, “Hobbes is both real and a stuffed animal. Neither view is incorrect.” In this strip, one sees that if something is real, it worries you.
