Calvin’s sneeze works on precisely the same principle as a rocket. If he can sneeze himself into orbit, returning will be even easier! Air would only get in the way.

Not to demand too much scientific accuracy from a comic, but a sneeze starts with inhaling air, which provides the reaction mass to propel him when he expels it. Presumably, Calvin has emptied his lungs with the first sneeze and is now out of air.
Maybe he filled his lungs on the way up, but at the speed he had to go, I doubt he had the time.
So I’m on Jimmy V’s side on this one. I think the “air” he refers to is that needed for propulsion, not that needed to “push against” as the New York Times reporter once falsely claimed.
How’s that for taking all the joy out of a fun comic, eh?

The entire thing about sneeze propulsion is irrelevant because he would die very quickly once out of the earth’s atmosphere…
