    In my brief career as a scout, I went to a knot-tying workshop, and in an idle moment, I produced a quite proper hangman’s noose. The instructor came over, took it from me, and looked it over. All the other kids thought I was going to get busted, but instead, he complimented me on knowing such a complex knot, even down to the detail of having thirteen turns (something that balloon doesn’t have – it only has four).
