Gaylord has seen this same scenario before.

    Good morning, LB.

Broomie is a sucker for scam artists.

Marg! The local weatherman here said it got up
to 110 in Phoenix yesterday. Hope your daughter
had air conditioning where ever she may work.

Thank you for that heads-up, Gaylord.
Our poor little green sucker is about to become even poorer!

Come on, Broomie, if you had one you could make this!

    From a booklet entitled:

    “Good Housekeeping’s Book of SALADS”

by the editors of “GOOD HOUSEKEEPING MAGAZINE”

    published by CONSOLIDATED BOOK PUBLISHERS

Chicago 1, Illinois (1958, THE HEARST CORPORATION)

    Gram’s Cucumber Salad

In bowl, arrange layers of thinly sliced onions, green-pepper rings, and cucumber; sprinkle layers with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Cover with wine or flavored vinegar (herb, garlic, etc.), diluted with an equal quantity of cold water.
    Refrigerate until very cold.
    Serve in vinegar.

Note from me: This is the recipe as written. I think the “Serve in vinegar.” statement should read “Serve in wine or vinegar.”

    @Alexikakos

I believe the phrase “wine or flavored vinegar” means “wine vinegar or flavored vinegar”. I’ve made this type of salad many times and have never heard of it being made with wine.

I stopped donating to Goodwill when they told me they no longer want anything that needs even minor repairs. Their whole premise was the employment of disabled folk to do these minor repairs, and now they don’t want them?
I donate everything to Salvation Army instead.

Plus, if she acts now, they’ll send her a free one. All she has to do is pay $59.95 for shipping and handling.
