Living in an enchanted forest with surrealistic landscapes, the engaging characters of Broom Hilda happily have no connection with reality. Other comic characters are extensions or distortions of reality, but Broom Hilda deals in pure fantasy, making the strip bewitchingly unique. Here in the forest, the inhabitants maintain a standard of madness where total irrelevance is the only relevancy. The strip is simply a loony-bin where what’s said and done often makes no sense whatsoever, much to the joy of its millions of fans.

Amazing how fast he came up with that pogo stick.
Broomie teaching Nerwin how to drive would be rather like Philip of Macedonia teaching Alexander the Great how to ride a horse. The expertise would be undeniable but the aim would be questionable at best!

Awww. Poor Auntie Broomie. Probably foreseeing the likely fate of her beautiful convertible Caddylike!

If he wants to learn how to drive, don’t stand in his way.

That evil scowl in the first panel doesn’t bode well for his future driving style…

And in the third panel, he keeps saying “Tic tic tic, Nerwin,” until she zaps him.

Nerwin might learn how to drive; but, can he even get a driver’s license if he has no birth certificate or certificate of live birth?
Of course, Broomie drives a car and apparently has a driver’s license.
I don’t know how it is in the fictional state where the enchanted forest where Broomie lives; but, since she is so old, she could have gotten a driver’s license here in Oklahoma when they issued driver’s licenses without requiring driving tests, written tests or even proof of place of birth.
My father’s youngest brother had a problem with reading and after he had been told that he had better go get a driver’s license before they required a written test, he did get one. I think he was around 20 at the time.
Uncle Raymond never took a written test for a license nor a driving test in his whole life.

Nerwin will learn to drive, get his license, and start dating Flossie.
She could be his klaxon.

And how do you know that Nerwin doesn’t have a birth certificate or certificate of live birth? Are you a resident of the enchanted forest?

I love Nerwin’s evil look in panel 1.

Do the doctors from the town where Nerwin goes to school fill out birth certificates for non-human creatures born in the Enchanted Forest?
Witches are usually originally regular human beings.

Why would he want to drive, when he has his secret levitation platform, and he can use it to float over all freeway gridlock.
Ya know?

JAD, judging from what I see every day, few people have ever taken a driver test in this country.
