    Yes. Thank God.

It’s one of the few non-God ordained festivals like Purim. Unlike Tabernacles or Pesach, which were ordained by God.
    .
But Chanukah commemorates some important events, despite it not being in the list of God-ordained festivals.
    .
It’s interesting that historically, the first time the Greeks came, Alexander was met by the High Priest, who read him the scroll of Daniel. Which ~200 years before had predicted Alexander. Apparently the general fell to his knees in shock. He treated then Israelites well.
    .
Later, though, that was forgotten in the endless wars between Ptolemies and Selucids, and schmucks like Antiochus Epiphanes came on the scene. And was defeated.

Going to the mall is like suicide during black Friday. I stay as far away and wait till after New Year’s. Spending Holiday’s with family should be nice. If you have no family it is rough.

Nope. The Book of Daniel was composed ~167 to 164 BC,170 years after Alexander had rolled through. All the “predictions of the future” are perfectly accurate up to 165 BC (since they were written after the fact). The predictions are inaccurate after ca 165 BC (11:40-45, for instance).

The book was written many decades after the Hebrew canon was closed in 200 BC.
