That was when the robots decided they didn’t need us anymore.

Taking the humanity out of war … is that good or bad?
Remove human compassion .. and brutality?
(Too heavy for a comedy strip?)

This whole affair only lasts until Dirk discovers that he can be replaced by a drone too.

Biggest problem with drones is that they rely on radio waves, either from a satellite or ground station. Only reason we can use them against third world nations is because they are third world nations without the capability to jam the signals.

The Superhero of the Future: Drone Man!

Is it a bird? is it a plane? is it a zombie out to eat your brain??

    No!

    It’s Drone Man!

OK, sure, by using drones as remote-pilots for operational drones . . you can get 24-hour shifts with one tank of high-octane fuel, and no pay or benefits.

On the other hand, their wing-tips are very clumsy when controlling the joystick. And they leak de-icing fluid all over the keyboard.

You read these comments. Some people take this strip (and many others) seriously. Too seriously.

Not true! There is no human element here – the guy in P1 isn’t a human. :)

These things are NOT necessary and their use is open to much abuse.

That’s what worries people. To avoid jamming, the simplest way is to pre-program a drone. Then it’s just a small cruise missile, cheap and simple. Perfect for low-budget armies.

Alternatively, Dirk could strap a storm trooper to it. They aren’t as bright as a computer, but they are more expendable.
