   If it’s a man-made species (Dr. Mel made them), does it get the same protections as a normal endangered one? (Assuming, of course that there is an interstellar law like our national ones on critters near extinction.)

   I’m not so sure. If I remember right, most of the holes in Native Americans were put there by Europeans as they took over.
