    Poached Pears in Sauterne  (6 servings)

     

    3 large pears

    water

    1/2 cup sauterne

    1/4 cup sugar

     

    1. Peel, halve and core each pear.  In 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat, heat 1/2 inch water to boiling; add pears; heat to boiling.  Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 20 minutes or until tender.

    2. With slotted spoon, remove pears from skillet and place in 9" by 9" baking dish.

    3. To liquid in skillet, add sauterne and sugar; heat to boiling.  Reduce heat to low; simmer 8 minutes; pour over pears; cover and refrigerate.  Serve chilled.

    Um… I’d be quite pear-annoyed myself, with anyone offering me a Bosch™ pear!

    I really hate to point this out… but I’m sure someone will, anyway.

    It would be quite inedible… well, until we get to some future era when food can be manufactured in factories.

    Bosch™ is an electronics manufacturer… you’ve probably seen their car speakers, power tools, and maybe their home appliances.

    The tree-grown pear variety is “Bosc.”
