Not as bad an idea as it was to have him do Star Trek.

“Lost in Space” was the best of the bunch, anyway! (Of course, I’d love a movie about REAL science fiction: like Larry Niven writes.)

    Ringworld, maybe?
Or The Mote in God’s eye?(with Jerry Pournelle, I know …)

OMG! The whole point of JJ Abrams directing Star Trek is that he’s not a Star Trek fan! He’s a Star Wars fan!

Ever watch the Star Trek cartoons? Several SiFi authors were adapted including Larry Niven.

The episode entitled ‘The Slaver Weapon was adapted from a Larry Niven story of the same name.
The villains, the Kzin, were used in Star Fleet Battles, a board game put out by Task Force.
I still have the computer version, but they’re called the Murak.

They also sometimes on the most recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles do like a minute parody of Star Trek Animated.

It was the “Soft Weapon” originally, I think? Wasn’t there a Ringworld computer game that kind of tanked, badly? I have the original RPG version of RIngworld.

I am very excited to see what he can do with this vehicle. Star Trek was awesome. It is too bad that some Trekkers cannot deal with the alternate reality.
