Old video game character, Q*bert, who jumped up & down a bad Escher knockoff of stacked boxes.
After years at sea, solid ground is a little disconcerting, & earthquakes are easier to deal with. You get a similar effect if your spacecraft’s artificial gravity generator needs a tune-up.

Wow! Q-bert was one of my favorite games… back in the day. I loved how if I messed up and Q-bert fell off his stack of cubes… there would be a little thump a the bottom of the game.
