June Brigman and Mary Schmich’s classic soap-opera strip was a pioneer: a comic featuring a strong female lead character. Brenda Starr’s adventures, if not a realistic portrayal of a reporter’s life, have nevertheless captured the imagination of millions of readers.

And three elephants.

But what happened to the gun Brenda had?
Bill Weinberg said, 4 months ago
Absurd. After trying to off Brenda, they invite her in for a drink and spill the beans (why exactly?). Then they decide she knows too much so they have to kill her again.
Can you say “plot consistency,” Ms. Schmich?

This recap by Brenda, of course, is for any people who may have missed the past few weeks
But we all know how this will end, don’t we?……..after the villain describes their evil scheme, they will try to get rid of our hero Brenda, but then Brenda miraculously escapes, foils the villain, then gets the guy in the end
Is it just me, or does this sound like a plot in one of those ‘70’s TV shows (LOL)

Bizarre to kill the reporters when the newspaper’s EDITOR could just kill the story.

Ah, yes…the villain has the upper hand but can’t resist bragging while she should be getting about the business of murdering her adversary. The only mistake she won’t make is arranging some elaborate means of death and leaving the heroine alone to die, thereby giving her time and privacy to concoct an escape.. I think in this case the elephants will provide the escape mechanism.
Even after the lengthy explanation, this plot turns out to be as convoluted and inane as the latest Dick Tracy plot.
But I do like the artwork.

Another story that will never be written. When was the last time the star reporter actually published? Has to be years.

Even though Brenda hasn’t actually written a story (yet?), you have to admit she’s done some bleeep good investigating on this one. Her “summary” was pretty good, and actually included a tidbit or two that wsn’t completely known prior. The only loose end was Pug, which she just tied up as well. Now for the escape…

If Salman can move that fast from just outside the window to what looks like several hundred yards away from the house, he’s not the Torch, he’s the Flash.

Knowing that Caressa tried to kill her; knowing that Taj and Raj ignored Ganesh being shot; knowing that Caressa tried to kill Taj and Raj with the tiger attack; knowing that Taj, Raj, and Ganesh are all into something crooked; knowing that some reporters have been murdered, Brenda gives up her riffle so they can have a nice talk.
Newenglandah said, 4 months ago
Caressa shot Ganesh and almost turned Raj and Taj into tiger food. Why would they now stay loyal to her crooked schemes?

Is there an evil villain rulebook that states that it is necessary to expose the entire plot before the hero wins?

Everything is illuminated.

Remember, Brenda in the last story line had a “Cat Fight” with that lady villain after Brenda admitted to herself the cliche.

Those 3 elephants have been “frozen” that way on the grounds for over a week now.
Financially speaking, the little girl, Carina, is the richest person in the room. Her father’s money was put in an account in her name.
And, Caressa, her mother, has been stealing it to use in her lavish and alcoholic lifestyle.
Carina is a victim of child abuse and if this were a real situation in the USA, her parents and her uncle would be in trouble with Child Protective Services, if the government found out.
Caressa’s 1st foolish mistake was marrying a rich man in the 1st place. She probably grew up in the same slum to where Brenda followed Carina.

And just WHAT is Salman’s connection in all this?
BillTA said, 4 months ago
I have been reading all along and it still took Brenda’s explanation for me.
Jogger2 said, 4 months ago
By the way, would Taj have become suspicious if his wife’s death was reported in only 1 news source? Would he have sought confirmation from officials or witnesses? Would he have conducted his own investigation?
Jogger2 said, 4 months ago
Indeed, Newenglandah. They must be wondering if they would be better off being exposed by Brenda, who saved their lives, or by working with Caressa, who tried to kill them. Maybe they are trying to come up with a 3rd alternative: A way to free themselves from the dangers of both.

It is coming to fruition - the cute guy always wins in the end - somehow he got himself untied and will save the day - or burn them all and the series will end.
jjff said, 4 months ago
Uh, is it a good idea to use fire around elephants? Won’t they stampede or attack?
Ron French said, 4 months ago
The story line is only as wierd as the comments. Maybe the author should write a strip on the comments. And then we can comment on the comments. hey! Won’t that be fun.
Is Brenda really blonde or is that grey now!!

Salman is a reporter for the same India newspaper that Brenda works for. Ganesh is their boss.
