June Brigman and Mary Schmich’s classic soap-opera strip was a pioneer: a comic featuring a strong female lead character. Brenda Starr’s adventures, if not a realistic portrayal of a reporter’s life, have nevertheless captured the imagination of millions of readers.

Formidable opponent? She hasnt done anything except follow the kid around and hide in the bushes! Brenda thought you were dead through most of the story arc! What exactly is Brenda supposed to be figuring out? Who killed the reporters? Are we just guessing that the Tiger Lady has anything to do with it? The kid, as usual, is the best part of the Starr story.

As Matt Helm (the character in the novels, not the Dean Martin caricature) used to say, “If you have a gun, don’t stand around talking. Just shoot it.” Brenda should’ve had about six bullets in her by now.

Ok, so we are exactly back to where we were 2 weeks ago when Carrissa got everyone to go on a tiger hunt. Maybe now she’ll suggest everyone go on a balloon ride to keep this pointless adventure going a few weeks longer.

The position of Caressa and Brenda are not in perspective since Caressa isn’t pointing the barrel of that rifle directly at Brenda.
Does Caressa have a vision problem? If she does, no wonder Carina was able to knock the rifle out of her hands.

Are Taj and Raj cardboard cutouts? Can they even move? Brenda just saved one or both of their lives and they never even lifted a finger (or any other part of their bodies) to stop Caressa or to protect their daughter/niece from this crazy woman! Sheesh.

Maybe June & Mary ought to go out and take some firearms lessons……..

Perhaps she and Pops the clown took the same gun class! At least someone in this strip has both moxie and brains! You go girl!!
PatPiano said, 13 days ago
Not a chance, drewhollan - The authors live in Politically Correct Marin County in Northern California - where guns are EVIL!!

Joe, I think I can explain the “rifle” problem.
Y’see, the “arists” have used the same picture of Caressa aiming her gun over and over in successive frames.
It even served as the frame for Brenda shooting the tiger.
It’s nothing new. Hanna/Barbera had done it for decades.

Looks like Brenda may have a new little adoptee when she returns – nobody in India is going to want this assertive little lady around the house.
