June Brigman and Mary Schmich’s classic soap-opera strip was a pioneer: a comic featuring a strong female lead character. Brenda Starr’s adventures, if not a realistic portrayal of a reporter’s life, have nevertheless captured the imagination of millions of readers.

This story is certainly moving at a fast pace and we really have learned a lot. Meanwhile the elephants are getting away from Brenda and she will have to run to catch up to them and she doesn’t have on the right shoes.

Wow, the kid certainly takes a lot in stride.

Brenda will merely catch the elephant that Ganesh was riding. Has everyone forgotten he was on an elephant? The brothers sure have. And remember as you read the panels where the elephants are, you must hum “The Baby Elephant Walk”.

Caressa is shushing her as though the others don’t realize that she shot Ganesh. And they’re keeping their backs to her! They had to have heard the shot.
This is Dick Tracy with better looking elephants.
Maybe it will all come clear…I guess we should give our cartoonists the benefit of the doubt until the story resolves itself.
I don’t have much hope at this point.

I’m sure Caressa has something equally diabolical in mind for her daughter!

The elephants are probably trained to return to the barn if they are without a rider.

Caressa is a sneaky woman. I bet she shot Ganesh to keep him from running his mouth about her little secret whatever that might be.

Young Carina is actually a victim of child abuse.
She might appear to be taking things in stride; but, she might be doing that out of fear.
Since Ganesh was behind the 2 brothers, it seems as though they don’t even know that Ganesh is no longer with them. In the 1st panel of Sunday’s installment, there is some distance between the elephants on which the brothers are riding.
On Sunday, Caressa claimed, in words to this effect, that she shot at a tiger.

I’m sure Taj and Raj (or is is Raj and Taj?) know that Caressa (dumb name) shot Ganesh, but since they were ahead and facing away, they have “plausible deniability” (remember that from the Watergate fun-n-games?). Carina is the only eyewitness. Except, of course, Brenda and the not-dead Ganesh. I don’t think Brenda needs to catch up with any elephants now – she’s already got the point of the “hunting trip”.

The point may be to kill as many of her friends, associates, exes, and children as she can.
