June Brigman and Mary Schmich’s classic soap-opera strip was a pioneer: a comic featuring a strong female lead character. Brenda Starr’s adventures, if not a realistic portrayal of a reporter’s life, have nevertheless captured the imagination of millions of readers.

Ho ho, little schemer! I hope Brenda is just trying to hide Salman so he doesn’t give them away.

Too bad the art isn’t this good over at Dick Tracy.

The art is great, but the notion that the little tyke could knock a full-grown man out cold with one shot is absurd.

Maybe ol’ Salman is a bit soft in the head.

Mary is very good at drawing horses (if it’s Mary who does the art) as I recall from an earlier story. It seems odd for them to ride up on horses when Brenda left the teeming slums by train. Maybe any old excuse to draw horses is good enough.

Didn’t you know? India doesn’t have cars. Raj and Taj probably followed the same route as Brenda and because they’re rich, rented horses at the livery stable at the train station. Brenda was forced to take a human powered rickshaw.

These are rich folks, they can get where they want any way they want. It looks more gallant to be coming to the rescue full steam on horses.
Carina seems to know her way around and the hiding places. Gee what an explorer.

OK this is how it’ll shake down.
Salam is Caressa’s agent (brother?) who was killing the reporters. Raj & Taj reunite, take over the newspaper and offer it to Brenda who can’t decide between the brothers and returns back to the U.S.

I don’t think the story will end that soon. There maybe more interesting times ahead.

Raj, Carina’s father, is supposedly broke. It’s her uncle, Taj, who is rich.
Carina threw a rock and hit Salman in the back of the head. When Carina sneaked out of the room, her mother mentioned a rock when she was talking about Brenda.
If David, in the Bible, who was a teenager could kill a man with a single stone, why couldn’t a little girl throw a rock and knock a man unconscious?
The Hebrew letters used to spell “David” are also the same letters used for the Hebrew word “uncle.”

Let the brothers take care of Caressa. Both have loved her and now have reason to hate her.

They’ll probably do just that, marvee. And I don’t believe Carina is a “little schemer”. I think she dropped a note to Amma in order for Uncle Taj to come there. This was before she knew the truth about her mother and Ganesh.
As for Raj, since it concerns his daughter, he wouldn’t just stay behind.

Why is Carina worried about Taj and Raj seeing Brenda and is she going to lock Brenda and Salman in the shed?
Jogger2 said, about 1 month ago
When David killed Goliath, David used a sling to give the stone more kinetic energy that he could have given it by throwing it with his bare hand.
The energy with which Carina’s stone hit Salmon would not have been greater than it had when it was in Carina’s hand.
Given the short amount of time Taj and Raj arrived after Brenda and Carina did, they would have needed to use some other form of transportation to get to the area before they switched to using horses. So, there might really be a livery stable near the train station, or helicopter pad, or whatever.
But, I forget: The authors of this strip think horses are some sort of super animals that can gallop for several dozens of miles.

It IS possible that someone as wealthy as Raj owns a small plane or a helicopter, and that they did not ride horses all the way to Caressa’s. They could have flown to a small landing strip, then taken horses from there.

I think Mary is the writer, June does the art … Mary also writes for the Chicago Tribune!
