   If uncle Taj is so concerned about the kid slipping out why isn’t he having her followed? Surely he can afford for someone to tail her.

   Carina probably stole some important papers for her father.

   Uncle Taj isn’t having her followed because she always returns to the penthouse.

   She probably makes herself look like that because she wants to look like she lives in the slums.

    Amma trusts her. Taj doesn’t, but he isn’t to the point of following her or forbidding her to leave.
    Any guesses as to what the papers are? Maybe they show who is really trying to tear down the slums.
