June Brigman and Mary Schmich’s classic soap-opera strip was a pioneer: a comic featuring a strong female lead character. Brenda Starr’s adventures, if not a realistic portrayal of a reporter’s life, have nevertheless captured the imagination of millions of readers.

Well Taj, I believe, moonlights as Dr. Strange.

Taj looks to interested in the other one no matter what Brenda does. He is not the one writing the comic strip, so who knows?

Jeff may moonlight answering the phone for US companies so he needs to sound American.

Wasn’t Mutt the tall guy with the mustache like Taj?

I was lucky enough to interview June Brigman on a panel this summer and although the writer Ms. Schmich has very firm ideas, I got the impression (granted it was inferred on my part)that Basil will be out of the strip for a while. The recent (and excellent!) ten month Magnum Opus in Kazookistan introduced a potential NEW love interest for the 21st Century with Ringo.
I could be wrong, but I would not underestimate the way Schmich and Brigman can really mix it up.
This strip is a BLAST!!!

ho hum. brenda starr always gets her man. she is a magnet that attracts any man with iron iin their dingwhoppers.
Is a Dingwhopper one of those candies from Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory? Or were those Tally whackers?

Mutt, indeed, it the tall one. He was first in the strip and Jeff came along later. I remember reading this as a child. I seldom saw the humor then…but I was young.
