June Brigman and Mary Schmich’s classic soap-opera strip was a pioneer: a comic featuring a strong female lead character. Brenda Starr’s adventures, if not a realistic portrayal of a reporter’s life, have nevertheless captured the imagination of millions of readers.

So what has the urchin been doing while all this is going on?
Bill Weinberg said, 5 months ago
We’re gonna find out. She is certainly a far more appealing character than Surly Pretty Boy.

The urchin doesn’t do much for me. Pug is more interesting.

I like the Weeds ad.

Is that the urchin holding on to the back of the cart?

I’m still wondering about the little “devil horns” (Salman’s hair) in the June 02 strip, panel 2.
basilfan said, 5 months ago
Salman sounds like a typical man. He does not care to hear anyones voice but his own.
StarrMan said, 5 months ago
He just likes to hear other voices in moderation. And it looks like Pug is hanging on to the back of the cart, spying on the two of them while they go look for her. Jealous, maybe?

That’s the Slumpuppy, not Pug, in the back of the Rickshaw.
Women are just as bad as men about wanting to be heard but not willing to listen to others.

This story line is not as exciting as I thought it was going to be. Blah, Blah, Blah.

That’s very true, and I’m a woman…
