June Brigman and Mary Schmich’s classic soap-opera strip was a pioneer: a comic featuring a strong female lead character. Brenda Starr’s adventures, if not a realistic portrayal of a reporter’s life, have nevertheless captured the imagination of millions of readers.

Think maybe Salman might be related to the rich dude and being rebellious towards his family?

Hey, Ganesh, where’s the poor’s expense? Those projects provide construction work, and later, service jobs. Your hackneyed ideas are what’s at their expense.

If so, it’s a reprise of the very first Brenda strip to capture my interest. Let’s see who can remember that one… Brenda infiltrates a biker gang and (of course) falls for its hunky leader, who turns out to be the son of a bazillionaire arms merchant… and is blowing up his dad’s factories as an act of family rebellion. While the strip was rather obviously written and drawn without any research whatsoever into “biker” culture, it was still loads of fun, especially the big scene near the end, in which the fun-loving members of the gang (accompanied, for reasons I no longer remember, by Gabby) invade the rich dude’s mansion, guzzling the wine, partying in the hot tub, and drawing looks of stern disapproval from the butler.

Brenda will probably be attracted to the wealthy patriarch who probably is closer to her age than Salman but in the end, her conscience, aided by the street urchins sad eyes, will cause her to do the right thing ;and ultimately she will convince the rich one to set up a massive welfare program(like in the United States) to benefit all who are poor and unable to find or perform a job, including the few who could but won’t.

Bill Weinberg is right. We have the killer.

If that’s the plot - rich guy did it - it’s trite.
