June Brigman and Mary Schmich’s classic soap-opera strip was a pioneer: a comic featuring a strong female lead character. Brenda Starr’s adventures, if not a realistic portrayal of a reporter’s life, have nevertheless captured the imagination of millions of readers.

This year I resolve to dump this site. No fix since Sunday’s strip. This is unacceptable. back to the old Herald.

OK, how do we reach these insensitive jerks on the phone? This is really outrageous.
Happy New Year to you too, GoComics!

This reminds me of the time I used to watch Korean dramas because they had English subtitles. I really got hooked on them. But then I moved and my new cable company didn’t have the same channel and I didn’t get to see the end of the latest series. So I called up a video store in an area I where knew Koreans lived and they said they had a video of the drama I missed but it didn’t have subtitles. But the girl who answered the phone at the video store told me how it ended. So if any of you have newspapers with Brenda Starr, tell us what we’ve missed.

ang33(and all the rest): I’ve not yet seen to-day’s strip( thank’s to a major snow storm ). I thank the Boston Herald for still running the strip. Anyway, after the Sunday’s strip, the “item” up for action, is finally revealed( NOTE: I did post a verbal update on yesterday’s page ). The “item” in question looks a lot like the relic of Indiana Jones fame. That’s right ,the “ARK”. Or a Kazookistan version of it. Aurora gives the sales pitch, while Brenda lingers round ,wondering where Basil is. Ringo has also disappeared. Looks like we might be stuck at the auction for a while, yet. And yes, I saw this coming a mile away. Anywho, the “ark” is purported to cure all disease and ailments. Sound familiar? Like I told Marg, I will update here, until the go-mooks fix this. If any-one knows of another on-line( reliable ) source for comics, please to share a link.
I even e-mailed Roy( he’s the inker/colourist for Brenda ). Neither he, June or Mary, have any controlle over operator errors, such as this one.

I did find a phone # buried deep in the FAQ pages. Wonder if it’s open on holiday? This is for the ordering dept. for Universal Press Syndicate;816-932-6617. They’re out of Kansas City, MO. What? Nobody reads the FAQ’s???

I agree with all those upset that Brenda Starr has apparently been removed. Please, Brenda is as important as my morning cup of coffee.

Whatever this is, drop it! GoComics is not a free site, so the subscribers should get what they pay for, and this is not it. Give us back our Brenda Starr!!!

No problem, Marktrail. Glad to see at least two people are paying attention. As for the price of that relic…wow! Aurora’s gotta be droolin’. Guess I’ll have to nip on over to the library for the rest.

What kind of technical problem can GoComics have that would affect only one or two comics and which also would take so long to fix?

My, my, so many crabby people on January 1.
I don’t know what software UCLICK uses to operate this site but (based on many years of experience as a computer geek) I suspect this strip’s entry in the database simply got goofed up. I also suspect they have a rather thin staff right now and the glitch will get fixed next Monday when someone who can correct it returns from vacation. So chill and enjoy the rest of the comics.

To all who followed my link, you are most welcome. Editing the minute strips from a newspaper isn’t easy. And what they charge for a paper these days! As this one does not put their comics page on-line. I’ll have to nip on over to the library for the back issues. I hope I can find them.
As for the mystery bidder here, take a closer look at those glasses “he’s” wearing. Does Trad come to mind?

UPDATE: Rabid emails work. I sent them to every email address I could find on the contact page, and it seems like they’re fixing the links finally; December is correct, still waiting for January. Am writing a letter to ouglas Edwards, President and CEO/uclick, LLC/4520 Main Street/Suite 500/Kansas City, MO 64111, though. There is a real problem with customer service and communications that should be addressed. My dad used to say “go to the top.”
I went to this link:
http://content.uclick.com/contact.html
There is contact information for various departments, and I sent an email to each of them. There is also a phone number 1 (877) 6UCLICK, which I called and left an angry message. Try pointing out to them that in these tough economic times it would be just as easy to cancel the subscription and start coming to the site for free again if this is how they treat us.

I miss Brenda too, but don’t take your frustration out on Brewster Rockit. It’s not his fault! One of my favorite comics :).

HankF: there is no alternate site( that I could find…yet ), this was a scan from a newspaper I did up. Read the other comments and you’ll find the link, not to mention a recap of the last three days. And Margueritem ,yes, I do believe that is Trad lurking in the shadows. Also, I seem to be having problems logging in. Hmmm…
