    How to feel old in a heartbeat: I finally found out what all the fuss with “kettle corn” is about. It’s the kind of popcorn I grew up making on the stovetop, in a pan with a lid.

    don’t know how it’s made, BUT it’s the taste … lightly sweet that makes the difference.

    It’s because you put oil in the pan, Fung, and heat it slowly while shaking the covered pan back and forth. When the first pops start, shake like mad until the machine-gun noise dies down. Turn it out into a bowl. If you use olive oil, you won’t need any butter—just a touch of salt.
    I find air popped corn too dry (I’d rather eat styrofoam packing pellets) and micro bag corn too salty.
