OK, this isn’t a language problem… I’m just too thick to follow the joke… please someone explain.

It’s that quiz show thing where the contestant steps into a glass booth and the money blows around- he has to grab as much as possible from mid air. With coins they’d just lay on the floor. The drawing does a poor job suggesting he’s inside a glass booth- at first I thought it was a mirror.

This actually stems from my days of – ahem – working as a car salesman (yes, a bit different of a career from cartooning). We had this money machine that would blow dollars around. Customers were able to spend a minute in it and grab as much cash as possible if they bought a car. So, the cartoon is demonstrating how dull it would be if they used coins instead of dollars, because – well – coins don’t blow.
This was kind of a personal cartoon for me, so I was wondering how well it would come across to everyone. But, that is the premise!

Oh. I thought the guy was leaning against the side of the machine ’cause the coins had bopped him in the head and he was unconscious but there was no room to lie down.

Made total sense to me

That’s OK Nate, thank you for the explanation. Unfortunately, it is something of a cultural event. I’m certain there are many English customs, idioms etc of which you have no knowledge. I was just wondering why Dr Who had a change machine in his Tardis.

Thanks, thats pretty interesting. Whats the most $ a person ever grabbed while in that booth?

Lol…anytime! Dr. Who isn’t exactly known for his change machines, so totally understandable!

Oh gosh….not that much. The key to the money machine was mostly to stack it with ones and fives. It always LOOKED like a lot of money flying around in the thing, but usually people came out with $20 or so (if they were lucky).

But….If they modified the machine so it injected the coins into the booth and they rattled all around at high speed, then it would be interesting . To observers any way, the player not so much.

That would be kind of interesting! And possibly might include and exciting ambulance ride afterwards.

The trick is to lick your hands to make them sticky and you can grab more bills.

Coins are much too heavy for the air to left them, use coins made from Foam Rubber..

Would’ve thought the guy’d be unconcious.
