Dip your toes into BRAINWAVES and let Betsy Streeter’s stream-of-consciousness cartoon panel wash away your anxieties with its cool, clear insights and unabashed enjoyment of our irony-enhanced world. Streeter savors the absurd differences between what we do and what we think we do, and daily notes the deliciously strange juxtapositions that save our sanity. Whether her bemused humans find themselves in the clothing store, the cubicle, the doctor’s office or the traffic jam, there’s always an epiphany at hand. A veteran cartoonist whose drawings have appeared in Funny Times, "The New Breed", and numerous magazines, newsletters and textbooks, Streeter describes her work as being about "working, driving, hunting and gathering, impressing our friends, and the like." "As long as there’s laughter somewhere," she notes, "we’re all going to make it."

Is the dude gesturing to the waiter to give him his check because the noise is beyond his control or is he telling him to pass along the check to the next table????
As usual… many reads on a brainwaves strip… and either way today are funny… and I also feel that Ms Streeter may have felt like she was on one side of that panel a time or two…

The fellow is asking the waiter to bring the mother’s check to the mother’s table, and make it snappy. Ultimately, today’s strip is mildly amusing.

that doesn’t look like a dinner fork in the kid’s hand… more like a pitchfork. they all look like they are pitching a real fit~

Detour you’re right, there’s more than one way to look at this - a third way is that that guy is actually the dad and he’s excused himself from the chaos to another table. And yes, I’ve been on both sides of this situation - I’m more sympathetic now that I’ve got kids of my own……..

Check?
Check for what?
Check that oil and water? (a now defunct phrase that gas attendants used to use before you had to put your own gas in the car yourself!)
Check the air in your tires (see above for same defunct phrase)
Cash, check, or money order?
