Dip your toes into BRAINWAVES and let Betsy Streeter’s stream-of-consciousness cartoon panel wash away your anxieties with its cool, clear insights and unabashed enjoyment of our irony-enhanced world. Streeter savors the absurd differences between what we do and what we think we do, and daily notes the deliciously strange juxtapositions that save our sanity. Whether her bemused humans find themselves in the clothing store, the cubicle, the doctor’s office or the traffic jam, there’s always an epiphany at hand. A veteran cartoonist whose drawings have appeared in Funny Times, "The New Breed", and numerous magazines, newsletters and textbooks, Streeter describes her work as being about "working, driving, hunting and gathering, impressing our friends, and the like." "As long as there’s laughter somewhere," she notes, "we’re all going to make it."

Shocking! Watt? How can you “refuse?”

I enjoy how there is often no clear cut or hard line as to what your comix are all about. It is left up to the viewers interpretation.
Today I see the strip as a political statement and an attack on all those goofus cell phone users who refuse to go quiet when the movie starts. Oh how I hate them… and now whether you feel the same way or not… in my mind… I think you are on my side. The comic strip as a mirror.

l see it as the cell phone, taking a life of its own, like the living spirits that we happen to be, and in this case, the electrical supply is in demand and someone is low on juice…
cell phone use in the theatre bother me too, not as bad as when dining though…

Thanks Detour, and everyone, I love seeing all the interpretation that goes on - and how something like cell phones get a different reaction from each person … which is part of what I love about cartooning, the differences. This one started out as two devices squaring off in front of one outlet like in a movie western - but evolved into a movie theater. Thanks for reading! Betsy

Dumb asses even have their cell phone on during church, and when it rings, they HAVE to answer it instead of shutting it off, and when they DO answer it, they tell the person in a loud stage whisper that they are in church, as if it was the callers fault. Some people need another serving of brains.
