    Sympathy declines when it’s voluntary…not to mention they spend their life inflicting it on those around them.

    My sympathy is limited almost to the point of non-existence. BUT – at a certain point in a smoker’s life, “voluntary” is a term that has to be used somewhat loosely. Yes, nobody forces them to keep smoking, but stopping sure ain’t easy. (Granted, they shouldn’t have started in the first place…)

    I’m far more tolerant of tobacco addicts than I am of “social smokers” – people who have no real need to light up, but will do so in social situations as a way of feeling hip. Vile.
