That’s the fate of small (under 12" for the Air Cannons) pumpkins. Large ones (900 lbs and over) get turned into boats for races and regattas at a number of locations ( Lake Champlain, between New York and Vermont, Ludwigsburg Lake in Germany, Windsor in Nova Scotia, Canada, etc)

To be precise, the record is 4483.51 feet, which is 0.85 mile, or nearly 7/8 of a mile, set in 2008 by Young Glory III, an air cannon.
