Meet Aaron McGruder’s The Boondocks: Huey and Riley Freeman, Jazmine DuBois, and Huey’s best friend, Caesar. This comic strip reflects the racial diversity and complexity of our world. Combining Huey’s childish antics with contemporary political and social satire, the strip explores the terrain where dashikis and Brand Nubian CDs meet The Gap and Hanson.

Health insurance? That’s communist!

You bet it is communist. I send my hard-earned money to some rich capitalistic insurance company to help pay the outrageous bonuses of their executives. That sounds like communism at work to me! [And where is that bleeding sarcasm font when you need it?]

Be careful what you wish for. Obamacare is upon us, and the only way to view the contents is for it to become law.

ObamaCare. Better than NoCare.

Even our most right-wing party in the country (Canada) which is the ruling Conservative clan would never touch or try to dismantle the health care plan in this country. There is already great wailing and gnashing of teeth at the thought of “two-tiered” health care where you can get the care you need if you can pay for it. That mix of public vs private does not exist ‘officially’, but it certainly does in reality.

When did St Louis become a state?

@tedybgame
At one point St. Louis wanted to become a city-state. So did Chicago. Long Island still wants to become a separate state.

Speaking as one who lives here, St. Louis is a state of mind.

What are you talking about? It is law, and the content of the law was open public knowledge while it was being ‘debated.’ Of course, the right has injected a lot of disinformation about it into the corporate-controlled mainstream media, but anyone who wants to know what the law provides has only to look it up. Have you been living in some other country for the last three years? Oh, wait, that wouldn’t explain it — even in China you can find out what’s in the Affordable Health Care Act.
