    @wbr

    would that be the undefined “Some People” that right-wing propaganda media like FOX News cites, when they want to smear a Progressive? Or the way they postulate an outrageous claim against a Progressive, but put a question mark at the end? [It’s called “The Cavuto”, by the way, for the FOX News pundit who makes the largest use of smear tactics]
    .
    I think maybe some Republican elected officials are nervous about having to be told what to do by an increasingly insane extreme right wing, especially when responsible journalists are all over their chicanery.

    This was the ONE GOOD THING they did in this Congress, so don’t dis them for it. Would you have rather lost another step/rung/whatever of your national credit rating?

    @Tigger

    How is agreeing to pay our bills considered crumbling?
    .
    That’s a rhetorical question to most of us. To ultra-conservatives, it’s missing a chance for another hostage-taking threat to shut down the government.

    Why should we agree to pay our bills? Let’s leave them to our grandchildren.

    @Zuhlamon

    You mean responsible journalist likes the ones that called into account Harry Reid’s comment “why would we want to do that?” when a reporter asked about children getting treated for cancer?
    .
    Oh wait, most of them didn’t and continued to blast republicans for not obeying Obama and then blasted them when they caved.
    .
    Usually for media to be as “compliant” to one ideology it requires gunpoint, but for the majority of mainstream “responsible” journalist, they slant the truth voluntarily.

    Too bad it wasn’t to do the right thing. It was to save the PARTY embarrassment before the 2014 elections. I’ll take it though. Thanks, Dumb(o).

    @echoraven

    “why would we want to do that?”
    .
    …was in reference to the Republican attempts to cherry-pick those programs (in this case, the NIH) they wanted to fund during the government shut down. Never mind that the Republicans had already gutted funds for that agency, and then hid behind children as part of their propaganda deflection shield. Their friends in the right-wing media were complicit in the cherry-picking, and when people (I suggest, such as yourself) only listen to the out-of-context snips they are being fed, end up believing their distortions.
    .
    FOX News and their ilk makes it their business to slant the truth.

    Slanting the truth is the job of the mainstream media; aka the “propaganda ministry”.
    .
    Democrats had NOTHING to lose by funding it and everything to gain by appearing “compassionate” and “willing to compromise”, instead they showed their ABSOLUTE arrogance and the propaganda ministry reported what Reid wanted them to report. You and those like you agree that kids rotting with cancer was ok as long as it was for Obama’s glory. I can assure you and any Democrat (Republicans seem to know this already) that cancer does not care about cherry picking or clean bills (both defenses promoted by the propaganda ministry) it will respond to treatment the EXACT SAME WAY.

    @Zuhlamon BTW, I never watch Fox news. I get my news by reading various online sources. I saw Reid’s response on a youtube video, so my “context” is free from “Fox” or “propaganda ministry” bias and his arrogance was obvious.
