0bama is a citizen of the World, and as such does not accept America as a superpower, or anything super for that matter. There is no American exceptionalism, we are just one of many. No different than say Zimbabwe.
That is what the intellectual degenerates in Oslo extol. They would love for America to be subservient to the elite.
That is fundamentally incongruous with the basic principles of American experiment - hence anti-American.
toaster, good for you! You know about the real Ignobel prizes. Me too, and they are really a hoot. For you others, check out the history on the prize (ooops, sorry, you don’t DO history)nand the comments of the chairman of the committee..
Petergt, you are correct there is, has been for a long time, a group of elist that hate American and what it stands for, hate democracy, hate the Constitution, and have done everything in their power to destroy our freedoms.
Their name is Republicans.
Just look at what they have done whenever they have come into power, under Nixon, Reagan, under Bush, and under Cheney (oh come on, you don’t really think Bush was in charge – if you had the ability to make someone president would you really give that power to someone like Bush, no you would keep it for yourself).
Everytime they have been in power the Republicans have made done everything they could to make the President All Powerful, they believe (as Nixon said) if the President does it it’s legal.
Many of Bush’s appointes had to be reminded, when they said they did what they did because they are sworn to “protect the President” that what they had sworn to protect was the Constitution!
Like it or not the Republicans are really the party of the (super) rich, and their values are those of the rich and elite.

That is fundamentally incongruous with the basic principles of American experiment So the US is an experiment. Perhaps your fellow guinea-pigs would like to know from you exactly which experiment it is they are participating in?
I sincerely doubt they wish to be known as Ugly Americans. I know you don’t represent all of them but unfortunately the rest of the world thinks all Americans are like you. Obama is changing that perception. Be glad!
DrC asked: So an American being awarded the Nobel Prize is a sign of the world’s Anti-Americanism…..?
If I were a liberal, I would be embarrassed that Obama “won” the prize when he had only been in office 12 days. This was clearly a “You are trying to ruin your country, so we love you” award. Previous “winners”: Carter, Gore and Arafat. Enough said.

Excuse me? Making others is one of our basic principles? American exceptionalism is one of our basic principles?
America as THE superpower is one of our basic principles? Please show me that in the constitution.
We ARE one nation among many, and it’s time we started to act like it.
gbruce, the nominations were closed in January, but the prize decision was not made until last Monday. I would guess the award was made in part on Obama’s speech to the UN and the initiatives he has tried to get going in the last nine months. The chairman of the committee explained their thinking on this quite clearly yesterday.
petergt, EVERY nation that trhought it was bound to rule the world or abowe everyone else failed. If you sincerely believe that, Im glad not to be an american because you guys are heading for disaster.
Then again, we all know power is like a drug. Who doesn’t like to feel that they are special? The republicans fed America with the idea that they are the only civilized nation on earth and that it is their duty to forcefully civilize others. Some are too far gone, too high on this idea to go back, no matter what Obama says.
dear notbelievecommonsense and bigg3469 as a former officer and still active in an org that earned a noble peace prize i feel that our effort has just been turned into a joke
What is being neglected in all this ranting the right is doing about President Obama’s winning of the Peace Prize, is that President Obama HIMSELF said he felt he didn’t deserve it.
^^^^^ Dear WBR, You can’t blame Obama, if your Organization is a Joke. You need to take Responsibility for your Own lack of ability and ineptness !
But I can see that next to Obama, your Organization probably REALLY does looks Bad. You can only hope that people dont ask for their money back.
Good luck, and try to do better.
PS Maybe you should write the Nobel people and tell them, what a mistake “They’ve” made. Be sure to use your Organizations name as many times as possible, and how Badly you feel about the mistake “They’ve” made. And that you thought it was a joke, and now want to return the prize !
If I knew the name of your Organization, I would do it for you.

toasteroven, that Ig Noble site is a hoot! Thanks for the link. BTW, many times the Noble Peace Prize is given for the effort to bring peace and in advance, of the goal. The goal sometimes is never achieved, such as peace in the Middle East. Bishop Tutu received his prize 10 years before the goal of eliminating aphartaid was reached.

And up is down and black is white and good is evil. We now understand the conservative mindset; take reality and inverse it.

I am not going to dignify your incoherent brainless rants by a reply.
However, can you name one or two of the 10 wealthiest Americans who are active Republicans, as opposed to active Democrats?
The reality should enlighten and shock you, but I doubt that it will.

Gorrell won’t have to worry about winning any significant prize, he doesn’t have the necessary element of truth.
