    0bama is a citizen of the World, and as such does not accept America as a superpower, or anything super for that matter. There is no American exceptionalism, we are just one of many. No different than say Zimbabwe.

    That is what the intellectual degenerates in Oslo extol. They would love for America to be subservient to the elite.

    That is fundamentally incongruous with the basic principles of American experiment - hence anti-American.

    Petergt, you are correct there is, has been for a long time, a group of elist that hate American and what it stands for, hate democracy, hate the Constitution, and have done everything in their power to destroy our freedoms.

    Their name is Republicans.

    Just look at what they have done whenever they have come into power, under Nixon, Reagan, under Bush, and under Cheney (oh come on, you don’t really think Bush was in charge – if you had the ability to make someone president would you really give that power to someone like Bush, no you would keep it for yourself).

    Everytime they have been in power the Republicans have made done everything they could to make the President All Powerful, they believe (as Nixon said) if the President does it it’s legal.

    Many of Bush’s appointes had to be reminded, when they said they did what they did because they are sworn to “protect the President” that what they had sworn to protect was the Constitution!

    Like it or not the Republicans are really the party of the (super) rich, and their values are those of the rich and elite.

    If I were a liberal, I would be embarrassed that Obama “won” the prize when he had only been in office 12 days. This was clearly a “You are trying to ruin your country, so we love you” award. Previous “winners”: Carter, Gore and Arafat. Enough said.

    gbruce, the nominations were closed in January, but the prize decision was not made until last Monday. I would guess the award was made in part on Obama’s speech to the UN and the initiatives he has tried to get going in the last nine months. The chairman of the committee explained their thinking on this quite clearly yesterday.

The goal sometimes is never achieved, such as peace in the Middle East. Bishop Tutu received his prize 10 years before the goal of eliminating aphartaid was reached.
