Should be the Rod of Asclepius

”The caduceus is sometimes erroneously used as a symbol for medicine, due to confusion with the traditional medical symbol, the rod of Asclepius, which has only a single snake and no wings.”

Yes, that’s true, the right wing refuses to acknowledge the problem and participate in a solution. It’s OK, it’ll be just like Social Security, you guys will scream about how bad it is and then when it’s overwhelmingly successful you’ll lie and say you were for it all along.

Ian–it has been the Dems that have gotten SS in the mess it is in. It was even your boy Gore tht cast the deciding vote to put the trust in general fund so Congress could spend it.

    ” … Social Security … overwhelmingly successful …”

If that is success, I shudder to think what a failure would look like in your eyes?

    It is going broke!

It was however, very successful in getting more Democrats elected, as they learned how to purchase votes with ever increasing government largess.

After eight years of flying in circles and starting wars, and ruining the economy, of the world, because we had a chicken with only a right wing flying, a bite on the posterior by a bored snake might be relief, or a wake-up call.

Eight years of misdirection with no waffling! He should have waffled – a confident idiot is still an idiot.

” … confident idiot is still an idiot.”

What exactly is the basis for your diagnosis?

What is your frame of reference?

Did you know that his IQ and scholastic achievements, however belittled by himself, handily exceeded those of all of his post-primary presidential opponents?

Hint: Al Gore - now that is good candidate for the moniker, albeit his IQ is above 25, and thus inappropriate.

petergrt: references, please. From what I’ve seen, Bush got into his universities through family connections, did a mediocre job in school (one business school professor even came forward to say he was a poor student who knew he was coasting on his father’s name), even referring to himself as an average student at Yale, which may have been generous.

The journal Political Psychology estimated his IQ at 125, well above average (~95th percentile), but average or even low as presidents go. I don’t know what they used for their estimate, but having some expertise in assessment I think any remote estimate of IQ is dubious in the extreme, especially with the level of precision given. You can’t really say more than “average,” “above average,” and “exceptional.”

Gore, for the record, graduated cum laude from Harvard, but did not finish an advanced degree, though he spent a year in divinity school and two in law school. John Kerry has a law degree and went to Yale as well, so “handily exceeded” does not appear to be an accurate characterization of the fact. Looks to me as if Kerry matched Bush, and Gore did better as an undergraduate, and just never finished an advanced degree.

Stanford Benet score under 25 = idiot, 25-50=moron. I seriously doubt watching him in action over the years, and his actions/responses to challenging situations requiring problem solving ability, that “W” is over 100, or “average”. From Arbusto, to Texas executions, to Afghanistan and Iraq, never saw any above “average” performance, and many examples of below par rational behaviors.

Saw “W” do far more things to identify with several sections of the DSM IV.

dtroutma, well, yes, I was leaving out the evidence of sociopathy. We were sticking to intelligence here. Personally, I’d guess “average,” but again, I don’t know the man myself and haven’t tested him.
His atrocious use of language isn’t necessarily an indicator; some experts think he is actually strongly dyslexic – which might also explain his minimal reading. Note that his mother got into helping the learning disabled – some speculate that this is why. If he is, too bad he didn’t say so.
