Bob Gorrell, I’m not quite sure what to say about this…

… “that an individual be judged for the content of his character rather than the pigment of his skin”. I take this as a compliment for Obama but I don’t think Gorrell meant it that way.

There are a lot of similarities between MLK and BHO when it comes to charisma, speaking ability, etc. The difference is MLK had one cause (dream) and BHO just wants power.

I’m old enough to remember when MLK was considered a communist and outside agitator by the conservatives of the time. If you remember history, he opposed LBJ and came out strongly against the Vietnam war. His percieved radicalism at the time makes Obama seem like a lapdog for the establishment. And I suppose Obama runnung for office is seeking power, while McCains running for office is not

McCain wants power, to leave the country alone. Obama wants power, to turns us into a Europe like socialist country. I prefer less government, not more.

don’t write the s’ist word, you’ll make my monitor melt and summon the flames of Hell…
Seriously, decades of Cold War propaganda made its duty. Even if you probably waren’t born then, you still fear “the s’ist word” without really kowing what it means.

gbrucewilson, you want less government? You better not vote for the GOP they have spent more in the last 8 years than all other Presidents in the history of America, and that is adjusted for inflation. We’ve never lost more rights than we have with this Republican in office and there hasn’t been more government programs started than with this administration. If you want less government and less government spending don’t vote for the GOP.

The GOP spent what was necessary to get the job that needs to get done now!!!
After Costly National disasters like Katrina, and others, 9/11 and the economic collapse that followed, two ongoing wars to eliminate terrorist enemies, billions spent in National and local defense etc etc, do you really think a Tax and Spend Democrat would’ve have done any better, two words..Jimmy Carter!

That’s right, they spent all the money necessary to start their unnecessary war in Iraq.

Obama is NOT Jimmy Carter. Where have you spent the last 25 years, Mach?
gbrucewilson said, about 1 year ago
C-Frog, I know what socialism is, and I am old enough to be your grandpa. Also, if you think things are bad now, multiply by 100 and you have the Carter years. We had no gasoline and what there was, was expensive. The interest rate was 18% (not 6% like today). Inflation was 20% (not 3-4% like today). Unemployment was higher than today. And, Carter made us appear so weak, every pip-squeak country in the world kicked sand in our faces. Yes, the current administration is almost as bad as the dems on spending. But the stuff BHO is talking about will make the Bush deficit look like small change unless he raises taxes a huge amount. What most people don’t understand is if you tax the “golden goose” too much, he will stop laying eggs. If you screw small and large business (the ones who create jobs) they will pull back and tax revenues will go down, requiring higher taxes, which will slow the economy even more. If you want a picture of how socialism works, look at Europe.

That was the twentieth century, this is the twenty-first. The past is past, it won’t come back. We have to concentrate on the future.

gbrucewilson: While you’re giving us facts, please explain OPEC, the second oil embargo, Nixon’s wage and price controls and their economic back-lash, building supplies that went up 400% (Pres Ford), the Nixon handling of he Viet-Nam war, The Contra affair and as for socialism I’ve looked at Europe, very recently. Yes I have an opinion too and yes I’ve lived through all this. PS Tell me the years congress was Republican.
gbrucewilson said, about 1 year ago
Frog, Great reply. I hope you are not getting sand in your ears, mouth and eyes. We are supposed to learn from history, not ignore it.
Hump, I have a feeling you know the answers to your own question. I don’t understand the comment about OPEC. You’re not suggesting the republicans started it are you? Everyone had a hand in screwing up Viet Nam, but LBJ probably did the most damage. Most of our military was lost on his watch. I agree with you that the republicans have done a lot of stupid things. Remember, I don’t like either party. If you think Europe is a good model, I can’t help you there. If I felt like you, I would be saving my money and move there. I know people like you. One of our best friends is from South Africa and moved here 10 years ago. They are always ranting about how horrible the USA is and how great Europe is. When I ask them why the came here, they reply, “Our kids could never have the opportunities anywhere else in the world”. Say what? Lastly, the republicans (and democrats) have done lots of really bad things to this country, but Jimmy Carter was worse than all of them put together. And he did it in 4 short years. I fear that BHO will break the record.
Corosive Frog said, about 1 year ago
look, no politician is perfect. You had a feeling the Jimmy Carter year were not right and you did the good thing to change it. Now we feel the republican administration is not right and we want to change it, just like you did.
No party has a monopoly on truth but we feel that right here, right now, the democrats are closer to it.
gbrucewilson said, about 1 year ago
Frog, I only ask one thing of you. When you go to the polls in November, don’t vote based on what you “feel”, vote based on what you “think”. I read a great cartoon the other day talking about today’s education system. It went: “If one angle of a triangle is 12 degrees and another angle is 40 degrees, how does that make you feel?” This pretty much sums up the difference between liberals and conservative. Please, when you vote, use your brain, not you heart. If they both take you to the same place, more power to you!

gbrucewilson: nice dodge. I don’t “know” the answers, just observations and opinions, like you. When presenting an argument picking selective facts leads to questionable credability. PS the first oil embargo hit “world wide” and was a result of OPEC’s manipulating.

Yeah, you’re right, He’s not, Jimmy Carter was a Governor, and look at the monumental historic disaster he turned out to be, Obama has not even administered his local Chicago YMCA chapter, so you do the math…..
Gbrucewilson, don’t invest to much effort on Corosive Frog,Non-Tax paying Canadians can’t vote in American Elections…

Stew: CF is Canadian as she said, but she is more qualified than you to emit opinions here, not only because she is also north american, but also for the fact that she is articulated, she never insults or put names, her comments are based on facts and she have demonstrated to have a deep knowledge of american and world history…
…many of those characteristics you may only dream to have one day, if you ever grow up…

Don’t calculate a president’s legacy before he’s even elected and overlook the last eight years you have right in your face.
Like when you look for your glasses while you have them in your face.

Geez, Stew… God knows that I am tolerant…
You have been here putting names to anybody for months, constantly showing your racism, your intolerance and your xenophobia, and YOU DARE to call me intolerant?????
My Gosh, what a protypical display of mindless GOPism we have in you…
You are the most perfect demonstration of the infinitude of human stupidity, thus, if we consider a chimp part of humanity…
