    ‘Look … just ask the groundhog in the bathroom!’
    ‘Right Mac, I suppose he’s part of your group too! Move it along!’

    “This ain’t the funny pages.” Well, of course not. You’re lucky if there is one semi-funny page these days (“pages” here refers to the dead tree material, not just electronic signals on a display screen). Alas, poor Steve Dallas, framed by the root beer-sotted Three Stooges, Opus, Hodge-Podge, and Bill.
    Meow.

    You should have showed the officer Bill’s Album cover. He would have recognized that Bill is not just any cat, but Bill the cat “Comic Strip EATER!”

    I wonder if this is the only panel, in the entire history of Bloom County/Outlands/Opus where Bill speaks “feline”. Except for his trademark “Ack aack”, of course.

    The cop has a camel that can yodel? Maybe they can all get together and form a new group.

    I don’t think penguins go “chirp chirp”.

    Opus is practicing his Rosetta Stone bilingual training, or, from the original comic strip era, Berlitz.

    @Sisyphos

    “Comic” came not from being funny but the kind of magazine they were originally in. Not humor.

    @katzenbooks45!

    Berlitz. That sure brings back memories of trying to teach myself Russian via my Dad’s Berlitz guide (He’d never admit to ever having them, now, but I also motored through his copies of The Communist Manifesto and Mao’s Little Red Book).

    Bill does NOT go “meow”! What he is doing is speaking the word ‘meow’. There is a difference – as Terry Pratchett and Gaspode will only too gladly explain.

    Don’t have the book handy to check, but I THINK this is the very last strip in “Billy and The Boinger’s Bootleg.”

    It was only root beer, but then they put it in a square glass …
