‘Buddy Holly is alive and well and living on Ganymede,.’
(Actual title of a book… interesting read, too.)

I don’t recall Carl Sagan “makin’ any whoop about Haley’s.”
Or was BB just sticking in a famous name for the sake of the poem?

Yeah I think it was all BB’s hand in this. Keep in mind there was a storyline in the strip that Halley’s Comet was going to hit the earth, but I don’t recall any actual magazines speculating the apocalypse from this.

Did Jack Horkheimer (“Star Gazer”) make a fuss about Halley’s Comet when it went by?

i remember star gazer (originally called star hustler but renamed because hustler has other not so nice connotations). yes he did a segment on halleys comet. he has a website with past shows on it. it may be on there.

BTW ABC, CBS, CNN, CNBC, etc. would NEVER hype or propagandize! They are totally objective! And I believe in the Easter Bunny too!

I watch our local and national news and see so very little that is going on in the world. And in the local news, there are ‘articles’ about a local business that you really should go buy something from.
Then I watch BBC America, the news on the spanish channel, Al jazera, and others. There is so much going on in the world that our media does not tell us, I feel as though I’m being kept from ‘dangerous knowledge’ while being filled up on the empty calories of government propaganda and business mens’ agendas it makes me ill.
I also understand that these other media outlets have their own ‘spin’ on what they show. It’s hard to argue with a video when the sound is in sync.

Halley was indeed a bust in 1986, but it was expected to be. Its orbit did not bring it near Earth. It wasn’t like 1910 when it was huge in the sky and Earth in fact passed through its tail. Comet ISON, coming this November, might be the brightest one in history. Stay tuned, Earthlings!

I saw Halley’s comet and it actually was awesome, both to the naked eye (in a dark sky) and especially through a good telescope.

What Americans think is “news” is recognized by former Soviet countries as mostly “propaganda”.

Look, you unrepentant, still-lost-in-the-60s-Berkeley-acid-haze, the ONLY major conservative channel is the one you blithely and with unhinged dementia deride when every other channel is the most liberal lopsided leftist-leaning Democrat-buttkissing steaming pile of wombat-shite, and mostly by their own admission.

    Flagged again, troll.
