Bloom County, a 1980s cartoon-comic strip that dealt with socio-political issues as seen through the eyes of highly exaggerated characters (e.g. Bill the Cat and Opus the Penguin) and humorous analogies.
Creator Berkeley Breathed's first regularly published strip, Academia Waltz, appeared in the Daily Texan in 1978. The strip attracted notice from the editors of the Washington Post who recruited him to do a nationally syndicated strip. On December 8, 1980, Bloom County made its debut and featured some of the characters from Academia Waltz, including former frat-boy Steve Dallas and the paraplegic Vietnam War veteran Cutter John.
Bloom County earned Berkeley the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning in 1987. The strip eventually appeared in over 1,200 newspapers around the world until he retired the daily strip in 1989, stating, "A good comic strip is no more eternal than a ripe melon. The ugly truth is that in most cases, comics age less gracefully than their creators". The comic continues in recirculation on GoComics!

Nope, Sting. He played Feyd-Rautha in “Dune”.

wasn’t there an extended version of dune which was 6 hours long? patrick stewart and sean young was in that movie. then, some years later, a rts game called dune 2 became a cult favorite which spawn command and conquer.

Tried several times to read the novels but could never make it thru the original. I rather enjoyed the David Lynch version, Sting is great in that film. Can’t fear fear, fear’s the mindkiller.

That would most of the movies in the last 20 years. Try reading the book, it will make more sense,

“godz vs smog”- thinly veiled allegory vis-a-vis mother nature striking back at the omni-polluting military industrial complex which threatens all life in the biosphere.

I saw Godz Vrs the Smog Monster. Great movie just loaded with action. Lots of metaphors too. I saw it on the ‘All Night Movie Go-Round’ while sitting the duty office watch out at Moffett Field in the ‘70s. Saw ’Buses Roar’ too. I wonder what happened to the guy that ran that show? Nothing but old ‘Z’ grade movies from after Johnny Carson to the start of the farm reports. Selling cars in between. Ah the memories.

Yes the Smog beast was created from human waste and fed upon it. Godzilla had to catch her breath from the awful stuff. Even her atomic breath only made the Smog beast more dangerous.

Dune the movie was a loose adaption with the end pissing me off. Rain on Arrakis? Would kill all of the Spice Worms!
