Hey, y’gotta plan these things carefully, and have contingency plans B and C, maybe even D; or maybe it’s not worth doing after all…

snakes eat bugs, so as long as they are not poisonous they should leave them alone to help reduce the mosquito & fly populations!

Hey, wasn’t there one before this one? (flipping through books) Yup, thought so.

I don’t care if they eat bugs or not, there’s no way I want snakes in my swimming hole. Go get’em guys.

Perhaps a diplomatic solution is advisable.

This is (an homage to/ripped off from) the frog hunting episode from John Steinbeck’s “Cannery Row”.

Oh, you guys are such weenies! A few non-poisonous slitherers aren’t going to hurt you!

I was started by a Rattlesnake once.
Clubbed the poor thing so badly I couldn’t tell one end from the other by the time I was done.

The biggest problem with snakes is their slithering doesn’t make any noise. They would be far more co-existable if they had learned to bark or cluck or something.

I’m with Avolunteer and ejcapulet on this one. My neighbor hates snakes. He calls me into his yard to kill them, and I tell him no, snakes are our friends. I just grab a broom and coax them over into our yard. He still calls me, though. He doesn’t have the whatever-it-takes to kill one, with which I’m quite happy.
Not sure what I’d do if it turned out to be a pygmy rattler or a coral snake, both of which are fairly common here. Probably just go back home and lock the door and hope it moves on.

Asa reptile lover and a herpetoculturist, the only thing I have against snakes is how much they cost at the Pet Shop. $100 for an animal with no legs?!!!! Frankly, I’d rather have a snake around my house than a baby. At least snakes don’t get colic and there’s no diapers to change. (this doesn’t mean I don’t like babies, it’s just that I’m not really enthusiastic about them.)

If they’re going to reprint a classic comic like “Bloom County,” then I really wish they’d do it right: All the strips, including the Sundays, in order with no skips.
