A SeaBee friend in DaNang woke up after a long night of phone patching, found his bag of M&Ms on the radio table, and upended it for a quick shot of crunchy breakfast.
You guessed it, there was a bitter one in there!

What was so fearful (or indeed, anti-fearful) about President Ford? (Admittedly, he helps explain why Binkley’s not afraid of merely clumsy things.)

Now that is almost as scary as the current administration!!!!

Ford was known for being clumsy … Chevy Chase made his career lampooning Ford’s lack of balance. So is Berke subtly comparing Ford to a cockroach?

Good pickup on the Ford photo in the background & relating to the Clumsy Cockroach. I seem to remember a classic photo of President Ford walking down the stairs (ramp) off Air Force One & stumbling. Didn’t hurt himself, but gave a good effort to regain his balance…
Ah The 70’s…. Fond Ford Memories Of the Only President Who Never Had To Run For The Office of the Presidency!

There was also a news reel that showed Ford reviewing some troops with a group of officers and politicians and, as they moved down the line, Ford was no longer there. He evidently slipped and went down (again).

If Binkley sleeps with his mouth open, then surely there are more terrifying things to do, like having fat pigeons fly around the room.

My memory is Ford picking up his dog (not Betty) up by the ears. Boy would I have bit the bleeep out of the prez and chased him a lap or two around the plane. Just say no worked real well, what a hoot.

Jerry, that was LBJ, not Ford.

Prime Minister Robert Stanfield was a Canadian contemporary of Gerald Ford who got the same press coverage. He was followed practicing the ceremonial kickoff for the Grey Cup (football) game. Nine times he got it right, on the tenth he flubbed it. Guess which picture appeared in every newspaper in Canada!
