Reminds me of the Anne Murray song.
Just once how I’d like to see the headline say
“Not much to print today, can’t find nothin’ bad to say”, because
Nobody robbed a liquor store on the lower part of town
Nobody OD’ed, nobody burned a single buildin’ down
Nobody fired a shot in anger, nobody had to die in vain
We sure could use a little good news today
To put a positive spin on this, most of the problems mentioned in the first panel are long over. To most people below the age of 30, the Soviet Empire is something they read about in history books, about as relevant as Nazi Germany. Even Ireland has worked out its problems. And no one but the penguins cares about the Falklands.
I’m surprised to see the mention of El Salvador (my country).. I guess, because I wasn’t alive back then, I would barely know about the impact on the rest of the continent… still, nowadays, I could use a dandelion break

Quite a contrast from yesterday’s edition, when absolutely nothing happened…

Eight seconds later, Opus was devoured by carnivorous dandelions. Full story at 10.

My favorite; “Russian Tanks on the Jersey Turnpike. Details at eleven.” From “Shoe” before the collapse of the USSR.
