The overuse of sports phrases is ruining conversation as we know it; just like the designated hitter rule has ruined the American League.

In general, the overuse of sports analogies for life is poor. Life is not a game, and you don’t either win or lose. You don’t succeed in life by beating the other guy.

Having said that, icing the puck should be a basic part of every marriage’s vocabulary, right? (What can I say, I like hockey. Go Blackhawks!)

I’m glad to see that SHEIK is a conservative like me. The designated hitter should be thrown out of the ball park.

I have no idea what “icing the puck” means either.

I’m amazed at the number of revisionist cliches heard lately, such as: “It’s in your ballcourt”, instead of “the ball’s in your court”.

It’s happening for all sorts of cliches, not only for those that are sports-related.

I’m starting to think my idea of putting it in the cooler with my brews might not be what it means.

I have no idea what icing the puck means so today’s cartoon is lost on me.

I looked it up, but I don’t know how it applies to the comic:

Noun 1. icing the puck - (ice hockey) the act of shooting the puck from within your own defensive area the length of the rink beyond the opponent’s goal
