This high-flying single-panel comic spotlights and savors the foibles, stupidity, and goofiness of our colorful unnatural world. It's all about attitude, as the denizens of Bluemel's realm devote themselves to surviving life's pitfalls, whether nesting in quicksand or coping with the technological advances of the tapeworm. From word play to fowl play, from weirdness in the wilderness, to the irony of iron ore, Birdbrains makes the offbeat seem natural. It's a feature to laugh at: if it makes you think, you're working too hard.

Thom - I don’t know if the tribute was intentional, but I thank you for it all the same.
This one goes on my wall, maybe an extra copy for my wallet.

What I want to know is who is this Clem and why was he disliked so much and what is Doctor Toon doing in the desert?

Doctor Toon -
Not sure if it was a tribute?!!! OF COURSE, it’s a tribute!
I’m trying to do tributes to my loyal readers when I can come up with cartoon ideas that make sense in a Birdbrains sort of way. Some avatars make it nearly impossible because I’m not sure what they mean or how to fit them into a toon.
My email is thombluemel@yahoo.com - shoot me an email with your address so I can send you the original.
And thank you for your support and all the humor you bring to Birdbrains - the cartoon needs it!
And please explain the Nuclear Coffee reference. Must be from some other, obviously much more popular, cartoon.
Thom
P.S. cleokaya - Clem is a cowboy who trespassed into Apache territory and Doctor Toon is there because Clem need a cartoon doctor. :)

Nice mention Dr. Toon.
Nuclear coffee is his own recipe, Thom. Can eat through anything except it’s own special containter and has been known to cause problems in the space/time continuum if left out of its container.

Saucy1121,
Thank you! Wow, sounds like cartoonist imagination in a can! Hmmmm… sort of the opposite of Super Glue, which sticks to everything EXCEPT its container. Good thing I stopped drinking that!
Stand by, Frog… you’re next on my platter… muhahahaha.

@The Blue, over at Big Top on this site, amid lots and lots of chatter, there is a group called the Tribe that knows far too much about Nuclear Coffee…

Thom - I am blown away!
Thank you so much, this means a lot, sent you an e-mail to explain why.
I’m known for making my coffee strong, my son named it Nuclear Coffee.
It’s become somewhat infamous as I’ve mentioned it around the site.
The legend grows as my imagination, and that of others, allows.
Thank you to everyone else for your kind words as well.

Jeez,
Went to Big Top and…
There’s a TRIBE which drinks NUCLEAR COFFEE under The BIG TOP! Wow! I had no idea. Guess I’ve been living under my own little rock too long.
Now I have to do a TRIBE cartoon AND a Nuclear Coffee cartoon! What next?!
Thank you all for your readership and comments. It’s great fun for me - now that I can read.

Thom - The Tribe formed from a bunch of us who made friends here at GoComics.
We picked Big Top to camp out at because it is a good comic, but being a repeat it didn’t get many comments.
There has been an ongoing party there for most of the past year.
Stop in and join us anytime, you would fit right in.

Congratulations, Doc. I knew that coffee would come in handy some day. In honor of the tribute from The Blue I will drop off Krispy Kreams by the dozens for the Big Top’s daily breakfast feast before dashing off to slumberland.

Thom-
(Pulling a Shika here.)
We’re glad you have immortalized Doctor Toon in a ….Toon! I think nuclear coffee would fix Clem, in time! (A little humour there, very little…)
I don’t always comment on the strip here, but I read it everyday and love it. You’ve got a whacky sense of humour that would fit in with the Tribe. Keep it up!
